Principal's Message: 10/30/2021

Good Morning Parents and Families,

It’s hard to believe we are at the end of the first quarter...I want to thank you again for your continued support as we re-acclimated to this school year. While these times continue to present challenges, I am so proud of our students, staff and community for all that has been accomplished this first nine weeks of school. Our students have engaged in meaningful learning in their classes, during Panther Block lessons, and have had a chance to showcase their talents in a variety of ways. Be sure to refer back to all of our features and spotlights so far this year!

As we get ready for the 2nd quarter, I ask you to please continue to have conversations around our Stone MS expectations of respect, honesty and kindness with your child(ren). Our first Panther Block lesson of the second quarter will have messages from myself, members of our staff and students around these important topics as we continue to ensure our building is a safe, enjoyable and comfortable place to learn each day.

There is a lot of important information below to include our End-of-Quarter Survey. Your feedback is essential, so if you could please fill out the survey, I would really appreciate it.

A reminder there is no school on Monday and Tuesday, as we have teacher workdays. I hope you and your families enjoy the weekend.

Thank you,

Meredith Norris
Principal
Stone Middle School

End of Quarter Survey
As we reach the end of the first quarter, it is important to reflect and ask for feedback. If you could take a few minutes to fill out this brief survey, I would really appreciate it.

Portrait of a Panther
We ended the last week of the first quarter with ten more amazing students who demonstrated strong Portrait of a Graduate attributes. I am so proud of the 82 students who were honored this first quarter and look forward to continuing to recognize our incredible students. Click the link above to see this week's winners.

Guest Speaker Series Feature
It was wonderful to welcome our second featured speaker as part of our Grace Covenant Speaker Series through Panther Block. On Tuesday, we heard some powerful words from Cliff Russell, former NFL player, as he spoke on kindness and empathy. Mr. Russell shared, “Each of us are created for a purpose. We have the ability to choose to build up or tear down, be kind or be mean, encourage or neglect...choose kindness, choose love, choose encouragement.” Click on the link to check out pictures and read more about his message.

Family Liaison Update
As mentioned last week, please click the link above to learn more about our Family Engagement Liaison, as well as Upcoming Events for the month of November.

Family Assistance

If your family is in need of food resources, clothing or holiday assistance, please click here to complete the request form.  Please understand that submission of this form does not guarantee resources. We will  work closely with our community partners to find ways to support our families in need.

Panther Block Update for Quarter 2

During our Panther Block period the past few years, we have focused on providing intervention for students who need extra support in English and Math, as well as providing assistance for students in their other subject areas. We are excited to expand and offer a new enrichment initiative to provide students with the opportunity to access a variety of activities if they are interested. At this point we are offering the following clubs during Panther Block that will last for a total of 7 sessions:

  • Microscope Club
  • New Ways to do School Club
  • Service Club
  • School Newspaper
  • Science Club
  • Mastermind Club

Students took a survey in the middle of October to indicate their interest. We look forward to hopefully providing each student who expressed interest the opportunity to experience at least one of the activities they selected.
