Dear families,
This fall our school and our PTA have been focused on celebrating our community traditions, adjusted as needed for COVID reasons. These events are so very welcome opportunities for coming together!
This past Friday we celebrated Monster Mash outdoors! See some of the pictures of this wonderful event below. Many, many thanks to the PTA for renovating this somewhat new event to make it outdoor-friendly, with carnival games and "trunk and treat." Congratulations to Ms. Gartin's class for an award-winning trunk!
One of our favorite traditions at CWES is honoring our military-connected families with Veteran's Day speakers and our hallway of heroes. See below for ways you can support this event.
Thanks so much for helping us make memories our students will treasure for years to come!
Warm regards,
Diane Leipzig, Dr. L
We had a great turnout of many festive families!
A box costume gets extra points for social distance!
Congratulations to Ms. Gartin's class for the "Trunk or Treat" prize!
 Students enjoyed the carnival games.
In keeping with CWES tradition, Storybook Character Day is a chance for students to dress like their favorite storybook character or character from a series. Students should not wear anything that covers their whole face or bring any toy weapons to school. Students should be sure they are still wearing appropriate footwear for recess and PE.
Remember there is a two-hour early release Friday afternoon!

We are looking for military volunteers who would like to share their experiences on Veteran’s Day! Please complete the form below if you or a member of your family are interested in joining our students the morning of Thursday, November 11. We will have both in-person and virtual speaker opportunities so we welcome both near and far friends and family! Please complete this form by Friday, October 29.
Volunteer Speaker Interest Form for Veteran's Day
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate lunch guests on Veteran's Day, but speakers are welcome to check students out and picnic outside (or take them out for the 30-minute lunch period).
This year for Veteran’s Day we again want to line the hallways with all the military heroes we have in our lives. A template will be sent home for you to fill out and return. The template is also downloadable from Schoology in the All Parents classroom. Any photo included with the template will not be returned, so please only send in copies.
If you have any questions about our Veteran's Day celebrations please reach out to Amber Trzcinski (actrzcinski@fcps.edu) or Tiffany Sutton (tsutton@fcps.edu). Thank you for sharing your military experiences with us!
