Fairfax Academy,
Wow! It's amazing that this is already the end of the 1st quarter. As a reminder, each of the quarters ends with an early release day. Due to each high school arranging their own bell schedule and transportation across the county, there are no Midday (periods 5/6) or PM (periods 7/8) block classes or Academy shuttles on any early release days. All AM (periods 1/2) classes will be held and shuttles will run. (The first one of these days is October 29th. There is also another one on November 11th.)
Below you will find details about a number of things:
- A reminder that Expo packets are due Wednesday.
- We are collecting Ambassador Applications currently.
- Our first MTAS showcase in two years is tomorrow evening at 7pm.
- We have the final round of our college visits for the year over the next few weeks.
I hope all our students enjoy the upcoming long weekend and look forward to seeing many of our students on November 5th for the Career Experience Expo!

Field trip packets to participate in the Career Experience Expo for the full day are due by this Wednesday, October 27th. Packets can be picked up and turned in to any Academy classroom or the Academy office.

Our Academy Ambassador Program applications for this school year are still being accepted. Do you like helping others - teachers, your school, your community? Are you a born leader and if not, do you want to build your leadership experiences? Do you like speaking in public or would you like to gain more experience in this area? Do you need service learning opportunities or volunteer hours? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you have what it takes to become an Academy Ambassador! Just Duet is a cabaret featuring students from our Musical Theatre & Actor’ Studio, along with a few special guest teacher visitors. Join us for an evening of musical duets and short scenes. Tickets are free; there will be a $5 suggested donation at the door.

We have some awesome colleges visiting our students this year both in person and virtually! We will wrap up our college visits this school year with SCAD, University of Hartford and Longwood University. And since VCUarts Fashion Design could not come to us this year, we will be visiting them instead with a field trip for our level 2 Fashion students to see firsthand what the VCUarts Fashion Design program is all about!
