Federal Impact Aid Survey
FCPS is asking all families to fill out and return a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.
Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
Please be on the lookout for the form coming home with your child in the near future. We need you to complete the pre-printed form for each student enrolled in your household. Please complete, sign, and date each form and have your student return their form to their classroom teacher. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the boxes in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 5. All results are confidential.

School Screening for Covid-19
All FCPS families should have received the email from FCPS this week around FCPS schools starting Covid-19 screening. As a reminder, screening will only happen once parent permission is giving via the online portal. Be on the lookout for communication around the online portal for consent or non-consent. Additionally, FCPS will be communicating more details around the plans for screening that will have more details around the screening process. Please see the information below that was sent out to FCPS families this week:
In support of our commitment to safety, FCPS will begin COVID-19 screening testing in schools.
COVID-19 screening testing for individual unvaccinated students will begin:
- The week of November 1 student-athletes and contracted staff (required)
- The week of November 8 for elementary students (with parent/guardian consent)
- The week of November 15 for middle and high school students (with parent/guardian consent) and hourly staff (required)
Screening testing is a highly recommended strategy to reduce COVID-19 transmission and keep our schools safe. FCPS will test at least 10% of students who are not fully vaccinated and have parent/guardian consent, which follows the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Parent/Guardian consent is required for students to be part of the testing pool. Parents may provide their child(ren)’s vaccination status and indicate consent via a secure online portal. The link to the portal will be shared as soon as it is up and running.
Test results are kept confidential, like all medical records. Parents/guardians will receive their child’s test results through the vendor’s online portal. There is no cost to families for testing.
For more information about COVID-19 testing in FCPS, visit our website.
Reminder Around Updated Guidance for Students Being Sent Home
As a reminder, earlier this month, FCPS updated their policy around students being sent home with Covid-like symptoms.
Previously: When a student exhibited symptoms aligned with Covid-19, they had to visit a doctor, get tested, and have a doctor sign a release form. No home testing kit results were accepted.
New Guidance that started Oct. 4th: The below slide is for students sent home with symptoms aligned with Covid-19; however, this guidance also pertains to when a parent indicates their child is sick with symptoms at home.
** Please note the small red print at the bottom – we still pause and quarantine for students testing positive and/or exposed to Covid-19.
Parents/ Guardians We Need Your Consent
At Forestville, we use a variety of digital tools to support meaningful student learning. Some of these tools require parental consent before they can be used.
You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: Digital Resources at Forestville ES. The tools have been carefully reviewed to ensure that they align with the FCPS Learning Model and FCPS conducts the same technical evaluations for all products that use student information.
Included on our digital page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year.
Remember, your child(ren) will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission, so please submit this form ASAP! Reach out to your child's teacher if you have questions, or if you prefer to give your consent via email or phone.
84% of our school population has already completed the form - THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Our goal is 100%!!
