Pajama Day

Next week closes out the 1st quarter of the 2021 – 2022 school year! We are going to celebrate with Spooky Spirit Week culminating with costume day as our Freaky Friday.  With the quarter ending on Friday, October 29th, there is also a 2 hour early release for all students.  Our dismissal time will be at 1:00 PM next Friday and future early release days.

This week, Superintendent Scott Brabrand presented the School Board with FCPS’ plans for the rollout of COVID-19 testing and vaccinations for our students aged 5-11. The combination of screening testing and the expansion of vaccination to elementary school students are both aimed at keeping schools and offices safe places to learn and work this year.  For more information on both practices, please read the linked School Board notes

In the front lobby, we have a bin for donated socks and gently used jackets – please continue to send in next week to support our community with the cold weather! A final thank you to our parent volunteers for helping us at lunch. Have a few hours to give, please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0d4aafa92ea3f85-lemon

Have a great weekend ~ Mrs. Castillo

PTA DanceFit Updates

DanceFit

Thank you to everyone who has registered and donated to our DanceFit Challenge so far! Today has been a great pajama day celebrating the first fundraising goal of $5,000 reached earlier this week. The main event is next Wednesday and know the students are all going to have a fantastic time dancing and engaging in fitness challenges! Here are some fundraising updates:

  1. Congratulations to Ms. Callanen's class, our first class to have 90% of students registered for the Dance-a-Thon. They will enjoy a Popsicle party courtesy of the PTA! If you haven't registered your child yet, yet go to MYBOOSTER.COM and select Lemon Road. Signing up is quick and easy and doesn't cost you anything.
  2. We are closely watching the top fundraising classes… don't forget though that the top three fundraising classes will receive a pizza party!
  3. We are very excited to share that we're more than halfway to our goal of $15,000 and have officially raised more than $10,000! As promised, Mr. Birge and I will be getting duct-taped to the wall on Monday, so stay tuned for some fun photos and videos!

We'd love to see if we can hit $15,000 this weekend and then push through to see if we can reach $20,000! We're working out a special school-wide celebration if we can reach our stretch goal. A reminder that all funds raised go to support the school and we are so thankful for everyone's support so far. We are so lucky to have such an amazing community at Lemon Road!

Positivity Project: Creativity

Creativity

You come up with new and original ways to think about and do things.  Creative people can look at the world in original ways.  They are open to new experiences, and have an imaginative and independent thought process. They generate lots of different ideas and can pursue them with energy and enthusiasm. Creativity is a process that takes courage. Anytime you share your original ideas with the world, you risk being criticized or even ostracized.

We look forward to seeing everyone's creativity on Friday with Costume Day!  Remember that costumes may not include weapons, blood, full face coverings, and students must be able to participate in all aspects of learning.
