Hallowingo Drawing is Today

hw

Live drawing for Hallowingo baskets at 3:00 p.m., Friday 10/29/2021!

Thanks to our wonderful Lees Corner community for the huge turnout for our Hallowingo baskets!  The kids have had lots of fun looking at these great baskets and dropping tickets in.

The PTA Board will draw names for the basket winners at 3:00 p.m. at the school, and it will be streamed live on Facebook on the Lees Corner PTA Facebook page.  Winners can come and pick up the baskets before 6:30 p.m. on Friday.  If you cannot make it on Friday, we will contact the winners to determine the best way to deliver the baskets.

Winners of baskets are limited to one per family, so if the same family that has already won one basket wins another, we will pick another name. Good luck to all our families!

Upcoming Student Holidays

c

Monday, November 1st and Tuesday, November 2nd are teacher workdays and student holidays. There will not be school for students on these days.

Goodbye Quarter 1, Hello Quarter 2

q1

Today marks the end of the 1st quarter and it has us feeling grateful for how far we have all come and how much we have accomplished together!

This 1st quarter was unique as we all adjusted to full time, in-person instruction. It has been both joyful and challenging. Teachers have been presented with new opportunities to prioritize social-emotional health and wellness, as well as identify academic needs through a variety of assessments.  Getting to know each child is the best way to match  instructional programming to student needs. School staff continues to assess and monitor students’ strengths and areas for growth using a variety of assessments. Your child will continue to have opportunities to demonstrate mastery towards grade level standards throughout the school year and your child’s teacher will continue to communicate your child’s progress.

Some of you have already participated in a parent-teacher conference and many of you have virtual conferences scheduled on Monday and Tuesday. Conferences are a great opportunity to strengthen the connection between home and school so that students are supported and successful. If you still need to schedule your conference, please email your child's teacher.

Progress reports will be coming out soon. Your child’s Quarter 1 progress report demonstrates achievement, effort and citizenship skills after the first 9 weeks of a return to in-person learning. The purpose of any system of reporting to families is to strengthen the home-school partnership and to inform families about student progress.

For more information about elementary grading and reporting, please visit the FCPS website (https://www.fcps.edu/academics/grading-and-reporting/elementary-school )

Picture Retake Day

p

Did your child not get their picture taken in September? Would you like a retake? These are the pictures that will be going into the yearbook.

Lifetouch will be doing picture retakes the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 3. Students needing a retake will be called down by class/grade level to have their picture taken.

Any questions about Picture Retake Day should be directed to Jill Boddie at 703-227-3500.

May I Bring My Pet to School?

pets

As a friendly reminder…..

In order to protect the health and safety of students, employees, and visitors, animals (pets) are prohibited on school property.  Exceptions will be made for service animals to accommodate a person’s disability.  Exceptions may be made for scientific use in educational programs and for education-related purposes, such as class pets and mascots. In addition, there are health notices (signs) on all FCPS school grounds asking pet owners to not bring their pets on school grounds. While we adore these precious pets, please leave them at home while walking students to and from school. Thank you!
