Dear EV families,
Due to the K&R traffic concerns, we’ve consulted with FCPS facilities and Safety and Security. The K&R has significantly increased, causing the queueing line to back up onto the state roadway. When this occurs, we have to look for ways to re-direct the traffic pattern to alleviate the K&R queueing line from extending onto the street and negatively impacting the surrounding community and through traffic.
We are working with our FCPS team to implement a NEW traffic pattern that has been successfully used at another school with a similar parking lot layout. The pattern will not be going back to the pre-COVID traffic pattern. There are too many participants utilizing the K&R, which would create an unnecessary traffic hazard on Dixie Hill and beyond.
As with any changes comes a learning curve, and we ask that parents give the Eagle View staff, parents, and others using the K&R some time to adjust and let all become familiar with the change.
As you can see from the picture below, families will drive in a snake-like traffic pattern to alleviate cars piling up on Legato and to minimize traffic patterns that cross. Families are asked to stay in their cars and follow the kiss and ride procedures. We are not able to accommodate transportation changes that occur after 3:30PM.
Please know that during dismissal, it will be challenging to move parked cars. Families are asked to keep this in mind as they plan for their student’s pick up from school.
