Eagle Families,

It’s that time of year to nominate your student’s favorite teacher(s) for an outstanding award.  The categories are Outstanding Teacher, Outstanding New Teacher, Outstanding Leader, Outstanding Professional Employee and Outstanding Operational Employee.  The criteria's of the different categories will be sent out next week along with a google nomination form. If the teacher you nominate is selected as the school winner, your statement will be used in the nominator statement for the official packet.  So, please start thinking about your student’s different teachers and how each one has a unique way of helping your student Soar like an Eagle.

Also, we are asking you to partner with us in one more way this week. FCPS has provided each student a laptop, free of charge, for the 2021-22 school year. We ask that the students take care of them by not putting stickers on or not writing on their laptops.  As a reminder, there will not be additional fees for a one time incidental damage. However, schools will treat repeated instances of damage from negligence the same way they would treat negligent damage to any school property. Students may be financially liable for lost/stolen/damaged computers.

Thank you for your continued partnership with us! Enjoy the fall weather.

Sincerely,

Tammy Silipigni

After School Pick-Up

If your child is participating in an after school activity and you plan on picking your child, please pick-up your child up at door 7 (cafeteria). They will sign-out from Door 7, not Door 1.  The main office entrance (Door 1) closes at 3:00 PM. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Federal Impact Aid Survey

Impact Aid Surveys were given to your student last week (10/15) during 7th period. FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid. Thank you to all who have already submitted their forms.

Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school.

If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the boxes in Section 3 and sign.

All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 5. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.  Please review this video -Video link

For more information, please visit FCPS site - Impact Aide Forms. There you will find the form translated in different languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese)

Fairfax County Youth Survey - 8th Grade Only

In mid November, Johnson Middle School will be administering the Fairfax County Youth Survey to all their 8th graders. It provides a wealth of information about a variety of topics related to our youth that influence their physical and mental well being, from sleep and nutritional habits to substance abuse behaviors to symptoms of depression and suicidal thoughts. The survey is anonymous and no individual information is reported.

More information about the survey can be found here: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/youth-survey.

If you do NOT want your child to participate in the survey, please print and fill out the Opt Out Form. Afterwards, have your child turn the form to school.

Translated versions of the opt out form can be found here: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/youth-survey.

The results of this survey are published each year (https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/health-humanservices/fairfax-county-youth-survey) and are used by school officials, youth leadership classes, youth-serving county agencies, and local non-profits to determine the effectiveness of prevention and intervention programs offered in schools and communities. It is also used to identify changing trends and areas of need.
