parade

HES staff, students, and families joined together and walked in the HHS Homecoming Parade last Saturday.  Our theme was from the movie "101 Dalmatians" which was the #1 movie in 1961, when Herndon ES opened.  We are celebrating 60 years and we're still going strong!

Administrator Avenue

Dear Bee Families,

We are so proud of our students and our community. We have had a busy couple of weeks. We want to start our letter to you with gratitude. Thank you to our amazing PTA for co-sponsoring popsicles and pizza on the playground at the Herndon Community Center. We had an amazing turn-out. Thank you to our community partner Trinity Presbyterian Church for a wonderful staff breakfast. Thank you to all who participated in the Homecoming Parade! Our bees looked great as 101 Dalmatians. Thank you to all the families who have donated to our Amazon wish list so we could surprise our staff with snacks. Lastly, thank you to all the families who have donated money and gift cards. The love you all have shown has been overwhelming and we will forever be grateful.

The weather is turning and it finally feels like fall. Please make sure your child comes to school with the appropriate outerwear. If your family needs support in providing a jacket please reach out to one of our counselors so we can meet your child's needs.

We look forward to continuing to partner with you all. We believe that communication is key. Thank you to all families who have already participated in parent-teacher conferences. Please contact your child’s teacher if you still need to schedule yours.

Finally, we will have support from FCPS central office members who will be working at our school as interim assistant principals. We are looking forward to welcoming them next week!

As always, we are a team! Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or compliments you may have. If you have seen a HES staff member going above and beyond fill out an FCPS Cares here.

Warmly,

Candace J. Hunstad           Elizabeth Baxter

Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R)

Parent/Guardian Signature Due October 29th

FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.

Each year, parents/guardians must review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.

Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.

Parent/Guardians can acknowledge receipt of the SR&R in ParentVue in your child’s SIS account or sign the Parent Signature Sheet to acknowledge that you have received this document. Please e-sign through ParentVue or return the signed signature sheet to your child's school by October 29, 2021.

Please contact the school office if you are having difficulty accessing the booklet. Hard copies of the form to be signed may also be picked up in our main office.

Please complete, sign, and date each form and have your student return their form to their classroom teacher. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the boxes in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 5. All results are confidential

No Thanksgiving Lunch

Sadly, FCPS will not be doing Thanksgiving lunch this year. We know how much our families love this event and we realize how the health and safety of our students and families must take priority this year.
