Good Evening Bulldog Family—
I hope that everybody is doing well and was able to have a great weekend. I think it’s safe to say that fall weather is here!
We have a very busy week of activities so please be sure to check out the calendar section. We have begun post-season for athletics and have a Halloween Event sponsored by the theater (more to come on that this week). We are also coming towards the end of the first quarter (October 29th) so please make sure you are talking with your student about how they are doing in class, as well as helping them make sure they have done all that they can to be successful. As we get to the end of the quarter, I'd like to remind everybody that it’s not a grade that defines your child; rather it is the work they are willing to put in to get the best out of themselves. Please help them to make sure they are preparing themselves to be their best.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me with observations, suggestions, questions and celebrations. You can do that through e-mail, call, or through the form located here: https://forms.gle/4eW9rgPRVBF2a5gd8.
Go Bulldogs!

AP Exam Opt Out Information
On October 15th, all students enrolled in an AP course this school year received their 2021-2022 AP Exam Opt Out Form in their 3rd period class. This form contains the list of AP exams taken in high school and their 21-22 AP courses. FCPS pays the exam fee for the first 6 exams a student takes. Students who choose to take one or more AP tests beyond the six FCPS-funded tests will be charged a fee of $95 per AP test.
If the student would like to opt out of one or more of their exams this year, please check the box next to the exam(s) and provide a parent signature at the bottom of the AP Opt Out form. If a student is planning to take all their AP exams, they DO NOT need to complete the Opt Out form.
- All completed forms should be emailed to Sonya Williams, snwilliams1@fcps.edu or brought to Sonya Williams in Student Services no later than October 22rd.
- A confirmation email will be sent from Sonya Williams once your Opt Out form is received and processed. If the student does not receive a confirmation email by October 31st, assume your form has not been received/processed and see your school counselor immediately.
- AP Students who do not complete the Opt Out form by October 22nd or later choose to not sit for their AP exam, will be assessed a $40 cancellation fee by College Board.
- For the 2021-22 school year, there will be no Spring cancellation options for AP exams without incurring a fee.
- If a student pays for an exam over their six ($95 per exam), but later chooses to not sit for the exam (and did not opt out), they will not be charged the $40 change fee. However, they will not be refunded the cost of the exam($95).

 Athletic Vaccinations
Starting November 8, students who are 16 years or older are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a medical or religious exemption on file in order to participate in Virginia High School League (VHSL) winter and spring sports for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year.
Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination will also be required for participation in any other activity that requires a physical. This includes dance team and step team, as well as out-of-season practices and workouts. Unvaccinated students 12-15 years of age must provide a negative COVID-19 test weekly to participate in team activities.
More information will be sent out in an e-notify this week on how to submit vaccination information and what the process for providing negative COVID-19 tests looks like.
