SCHOOL NEWS:
Fall School Photos: October 20th - order forms were sent home last week!
Lost and Found: Our lost and found is full of water bottles and coats. Please have your child check the rack in the lobby if something is lost.
Impact Aid Forms: It is time for Impact Aid! The Student-Parent Survey forms will be coming home in the Friday folders on Friday, October 15. Please note that there is an introductory letter on the front side of the Student-Parent Survey form from Superintendent Dr. Scott Brabrand. His letter provides background information on the Federal Impact Aid program and role that the Student-Parent Survey plays in attaining federal funding. For questions regarding the Student-Parent Survey, please contact the Impact Aid staff in Information Technology at 703-329-7655.
Please return your form by Friday, October 22. Thank you very much for your assistance with this project.

CogAt Testing for 2nd/3rd: Testing will take place for all second and third graders this week coming up. There is no student preparation needed for this test.
Food Drive: Next week is the last week of Girl Scout Troop 52010's food drive! Please leave donations in the boxes in the Rolling Valley lobby or outside the main entrance by October 22. We will gladly accept canned goods as well as granola bars, applesauce/fruit cups, oatmeal packets, milk/juice boxes, crackers, and trail mix. Thanks for your support!
FLE (Family Life Education) Parent Preview Night: October 27th virtual. More details to come. Information on the Parent Schoology Course.
Teacher Workdays: November 1st and 2nd are teacher workdays. No school for students.
October 29th is the end of the first quarter. Students get out at 2:00pm that day.

HAUNTED HOUSE PHOTO OPP - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We are using some of our awesome haunted house props to create a "spook-tacular" photo opp during the "Eat to the Beat" event on Saturday, 10/23 and need a few people to help us set it up, monitor it during the event and take it down! CALLING ALL ASPIRING YOU TUBERS! Would your student like to record a 15-30 second video to help promote one of our upcoming spirit events (Ledo Pizza, Chick-fil-A, etc.)? Saturday, October 23; 12:00-3:00pm; "Eat to the Beat" @ RVES: Join us for outdoor fun including food trucks, live music and more! Featured food trucks are Chix N Stix, Wagon Wheel and Kona Ice, and the North Illinois Street Band will play classic rock covers that will have you singing along. Bring a chair or picnic blanket and watch while you eat! Plus, kids can come in costume and enjoy our "spook-tacular" photo opp! (Kona Ice and the band are from 12-2pm.)

Fairfax County SEPTA Event: Tuesday, October 19th at 7pm: IEPs in Our New Reality: A Roadmap to Drafting IEPs
Special Education in the era of COVID-19 has dealt with a lot of changes and difficulties. Join SEPTA and Maria Blaeuer, Attorney at Law, for a presentation on best practices, procedural rights, and tips for drafting IEPs in our new reality. We will have some IEP-resource related door prizes up for grabs for SEPTA members as well! The meeting will start with SEPTA business, including adopting this year's budget and an update from our Advisory Committee for Students with Disabilities (ACSD) representative.
