Positivity Project
Starting Monday, students at Fairview began learning about forgiveness. This is the ability to move past being injured, and to allow yourself to reconcile with the person who hurt you. Forgiveness can often be seen as a selfless act, but it also carries many benefits for those who practice it. Those who demonstrate forgiveness have the ability to move forward after someone has caused them pain. This week, it may be a good topic starter to talk with your student about the power of forgiveness and its benefits for the person who forgives. Another idea would be to share a story with your student of a time that you forgave someone and how it positively impacted you.

Federal Impact Aid Surveys Are in the Mail
The Impact Aid Program is a federal grant program that provides funds to eligible school districts based on the number and type of federally-connected students. FCPS receives approximately $3 million each year as reimbursement for local revenues lost through tax exempt property. To determine the number of federally-connected students, a Student-Parent Survey form is distributed to all parents of school-age children.
The pre-printed Student-Parent Survey has been postal mailed to each of our households. Please watch for it, complete the form for each school-aged student in your household, sign, date, and return it to Fairview. We are required to have 100% forms returned by November 5. This information will be treated confidentiality. Thank you for your help.

Outdoor Dining Has Begun!
Monday, October 18th, was the first day of outdoor dining for students. Each class has been divided into an A lunch group and B lunch group. All students in group A are eating lunch at an assigned picnic table this week. Next week, group B will dine outdoors. If the weather does not allow for outdoor dining we will revert to our plan where half of a class will eat in the cafeteria and the other half eats in the classroom.
If you are interested in volunteering to support outdoor dining, please reach out to Meghan Ehrman mrehrman@fcps.edu.

Student Rights and Responsibilities
FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.
Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.
Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted. Parents who have not yet digitally signed form received a paper copy in their child’s Wednesday Folder.
Please take a moment to log into ParentVue to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by October 29, 2021.
