New this Week

1. OC Subs are Amazing!

We are so grateful for Olde Creek’s regular substitute teachers. They are definitely our super heroes every day! We appreciate them being members of Team OC supporting our students and staff!

Would you like to join Team OC as a substitute teacher? It is an incredible opportunity to support our school community with a flexible schedule. We would be thankful for any time that you are able to give to support our students. If you are interested, you can learn more at this link and you can also call our main office (703-426-3100).

2. Advanced Academics Program Information (AAP) - Tonight

Thursday, October 14th at 6:00 p.m. -  join us virtually for the Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) Overview of Services meeting. A link to join this meeting was sent to each family this morning.

All families (K-6) are invited to learn more about the different levels of Advanced Academic Programming that FCPS offers, the Level IV screening process, and details specific to AAP at Olde Creek.  Your Level IV screening and identification questions will be answered, and you will hear about updates with the referral process.

As shared in our message earlier this week, our school is in the process of starting a Local Level IV Program. Level IV services will be available at Olde Creek Elementary in grade 3 beginning in the 2022-2023 school year. Level IV services will be expanded to grades 4-6 over the subsequent three school years. By the 2025-2026 school year, level IV services will be available at our school in grades 3-6. During this meeting, we will discuss the process for becoming a Local Level IV site, describe what this means for our school, and answer any questions. We hope that you will be able to join us!

3. Woodson HS Homecoming Parade - Tomorrow, October 15

4. Digital Citizenship Week - October 18-22

Our school will be taking part in Digital Citizenship Week October 18-22! During Digital Citizenship Week students will think about how technology affects their lives and how they can use technology to be a positive influence in their community. We will be teaching daily activities from Common Sense Education and helping our students:

  • Reflect on how they find media balance.

  • Make responsible and safe decisions.

  • Treat themselves and others with kindness.

We will also be celebrating with a spirit week! Please see below for the theme for each day. We are looking forward to a great Digital Citizenship Week!

  • Edited language throughout the document to reflect gender neutrality.
  • A new section entitled Notable Changes for Students and Parents that highlights changes in the SR&R from last school year.
  • Restructuring of the Rights and Responsibilities Chapter with student rights prominently featured.
