Principals' Message
Happy Friday CES Community,
It was another positive week at CES! We are so proud of the resilience our students display each week.
As we progress through this year and continue to coexist with the COVID virus, we want to share some information regarding the sickness in school. In collaboration with the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD), FCPS has updated COVID guidelines and developed a new document to be used in place of the Sick Student Notification & Permission to Return to School Form.
Here are some points:
- Students demonstrating any of the following symptoms will be sent home from school: Fever (100.4 or greater) - Chills – Cough – Shortness of breath – Loss of taste/smell – Sore throat – Fatigue – Muscle aches – Runny Nose/Congestion – Stomachache – Diarrhea – Nausea/Vomiting – Headaches.
- Students who are sent home from the Care Room will now receive the FCPS GUIDANCE FOR STUDENTS SENT HOME FROM THE CARE ROOM WITH ILLNESS SYMPTOMS The upper portion of the form will be completed to identify the new symptoms your student has developed. This form is accessible for parents on the Health and Safety Guidance document.
- The remaining portion of the form provides guidance to the parent/guardian on how and when the student may return to in-person learning.
- Parents are expected to pick up their child within one hour of notification.
- Parents are to check into the front office.
- For students with chronic symptoms similar to COVID-like symptoms/illness, please complete and regularly update the Health Information Form (HIF) and submit to school.
Please note that students sent home from the Care Room may return to school when ALL of the following are met:
- The student is fever-free without fever-reducing medication for at least 24 hours
- The student’s symptoms are improving
- One of the following:
- Proof of a COVID-19 Test
- Home Antigen (picture of negative test result and note from parent)
- Complete and provide the school with the FCPS COVID-19 Negative Home Antigen Test Parent-Guardian Attestation Form
- PCR (test result from lab or physician)
- Rapid Antigen (test result from lab or physician)
- Physician’s note from a healthcare provider following a clinical evaluation stating the cause of symptoms is not COVID-19 and clearing the student to return to school.
Have a POSITIVE Weekend!

Survey for Federal Impact Aid
FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid. Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers. For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the boxes in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 5. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.
