Bucky's Fun Run!
The big day is finally here! Tomorrow is our PTA Bucky's Fun Run Event. We are so excited for our students to run their laps, dance, hula hoop, enjoy popsicles, collect their prizes, enter their raffle tickets and enjoy their parties!
This afternoon Principal D'Amato and Interim Assistant Principal Jeter, along with 7 staff members were PIED IN THE FACE!
A special thank you to our PTA for all their hard work organizing and supporting our Deer Park students!
Rest up tonight, put those sneakers on and get ready to run those laps tomorrow!

Family Life Education-Parent Preview Night
You are invited to attend an evening opportunity to preview the Family Life Education media and lessons and to talk with school staff about the program. The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 21st at 6:00 p.m. in the Deer Park Library.
Students in grades K-6 participate in Family Life Education (FLE) instruction through their classroom teacher. Students in Kindergarten through grade three receive instruction in an emotional and social health unit. Students in grades 4-6 receive instruction in a human growth and development unit and an emotional and social health unit. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

Advanced Academics Program (AAP) Information |
Advanced Academics Programs, Level IV Screening Information Session October 28th OR October 29th
Afternoon Session: Thursday, October 28th 4:00 PM in the Deer Park Library
Morning Session: Friday, October 29th 11:00 AM in Room M02
Families with students in grades 2-6 who are planning to refer their child, or have additional questions about full-time, level IV AAP are encouraged to attend one of two sessions offered. Mrs. Murray, our Advanced Academic Resource teacher will review procedures, timeframes, and will answer questions about the screening and referral process. Federal Impact Aid Survey

Please check your child's Thursday folder today for your pre-printed survey for you to complete as soon as possible and return to your child's teacher.
All information is treated confidentially.
The federal presence in our area and the significant tax exemptions available to federally connected personnel, businesses, and agencies has qualified Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) to be eligible for federal Impact Aid grants.

End of 1st Quarter
The end of our first quarter of school is Friday, October 29th. Students in Kindergarten to 6th grade will be released 2 hours early at 1:25 p.m.
Preschool follows this schedule on early release days:
AM preschool ends at it's regular time, 12:00 p.m.
PM preschool does not meet
PAC students are released at 1:25 p.m.

Celebrating Birthdays
Unfortunately due to the pandemic and current health and safety protocols, we are not able to accept any type of birthday treats for student birthdays.
We understand this is disappointing for both students and parents and appreciate your cooperation.
Teachers will be working to determine ways to celebrate students.

Bucky's Fall 2021 FUN RUN! |
Our FUN RUN Event is tomorrow! We are so proud of our Deer Park students! We beat our goal and raised $28,800!!!
Our Administration and 7 teachers were pied in the face today and next Friday they will get slimed!
Be sure to wear your sneakers and comfortable clothing tomorrow and don't forget your water bottle. Parents, it's not too late to volunteer during the event. Please come if you can!
Bucky's Fall Festival
Join us for the 2nd Annual Bucky’s Trunk or Treat and Fall Festival on October 29th from 6-8 PM in the Deer Park Parking Lot and Gym. We will have trick or treating, music, food trucks, and Obstacle Course/Carnival Games when purchasing a $5 wristband. The PTA will be selling water and capri suns for a $1 each. If you would like to donate candy or decorate your trunk please go to the following link before October 22nd: Signup for donations & participation
Please drop off the candy at the school office before October 26th.

PTA Reflections Art Contest |
Do you enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? Then join us and have fun unleashing your inner artist with the PTA Reflections Art Contest! This year’s theme, “I Will Change The World By...,” calls for your own unique interpretation through the arts. Check out the information sent home in your Thursday folder or go to the Deer Park PTA web site for details on how to enter the contest. All entries are due by Thursday, October 21, 2021. We can't wait to see, read, and hear how you will change the world!
