Congratulations to our new officers and all students that ran for office. The students took the election very seriously by creating campaign posters and presenting speeches to their peers.
Mr. Johnson celebrated all candidates with a pizza party and encouraged all students to not give up and shared his journey with SCA during his school years. He read the book "I Promise" by Lebron James along with a discussion around perseverance.
Positivity Project
Integrity
What is Integrity and why is it important?
Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody is watching. People with integrity practice what they preach and maintain a consistent pattern of behavior aligned with their values. They have the courage not to follow the crowd if it means going against their beliefs. Integrity is important because it is essential to individual growth. Authenticity, and a lack of pretense, also makes you more likable and trusted by others, meaning your relationships will benefit. The Information above was provided by the Positivity Project
To help extend the learning you may use the following resources to bridge the gap with school and home . The password is P2.
As a reminder, schools will be closed for students on Monday, October 11, for the Indigenous Peoples’ (Columbus Day) Day holiday. October 11 is a professional development day for staff members. SACC will be open. Classes will resume on Tuesday, October 12.
Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid
Beginning on October 13, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.
Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the boxes in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 5. All results are confidential.
Families please join Mrs. Heath, School Counselor and Family Liaison, Ms. Trupo for Cameron's monthly Family Coffee on Tuesday, October 26th 10 AM to 11AM. The conversation will focus on accessing FCPS and community resources. The meeting link will be sent in News You Choose and Wednesday's folder next week.
