Principal's Message

So much fun was had at our Chesterbrook Kickball Kickoff last week. Thank you to our wonderful PTA parents for coordinating this fabulous event for our community. It was a beautiful night and seeing the smiles on faces throughout the evening was priceless. Thank you for helping bring joy as we celebrate the beginning of this school year and being back together again. We look forward to this being an annual tradition.

Last week we held a parent coffee to share information on parent access to schoology and counseling resources to support students. In order to access parent this recording with further details you can access the recording at this link. The recording and additional resources can be found on schoology under Chesterbrook Families course.

We appreciate your support and understanding as we navigate this school year with Covid mitigation measures. This week we will begin using new protocols for students that go home from our care room. We have included the updated FCPS protocols for return after school illness below in this weekly update.

Thank you for your support, patience and grace during this school year opening. It's nice to be at this point and watching our students settled in more and more each passing day. As we continue to navigate this year, let's celebrate the joys, lift each other when things are harder and keep supporting our teachers and staff so they can support your children each and every day. In 2021 - 22 We Grow Together.

With Gratitude,

Stacy Kirkpatrick, Principal

Walkers Traveling Home Afterschool

If your child has permission to walk home without a parent, please make note that your child must travel straight home. Students may not travel to Starbucks or another location. Once in the care of a parent, your child may resume activities as you deem appropriate. Thank you for your understanding to keep all students safe!

Health Information

Please do note that if your child is experiencing any cold-like symptoms, a new cough - not due to another health condition, fever, fatigue (more than usual), nasal congestion or runny nose, headache, new sore throat, new muscle pain, new loss of taste, abdominal pain, etc., please do keep your child at home.

With cold and flu season upon us, your child may be sent home from the care room after presenting COVID-like symptoms. We all want them back in the classroom as soon as they are well. Starting Monday, October 4, the Return to School form is no longer needed, we will follow the following updated guidelines below. The new return to school form is linked here.

If a student has gone home with symptoms, they may return to school when their symptoms have improved and they have not had a fever without fever-reducing medications for at least 24 hours, AND have at least one of the following:

Proof of a Negative COVID-19 Test:

  • PCR (test result from lab or physician)
  • Rapid (test result from lab or physician)
  • Home Test (picture of negative home test AND note from parent attesting the result is for the specific child and to the date the test was administered)

OR

Physician’s Note

Note from a healthcare provider following a clinical evaluation stating the cause of symptoms is not COVID-19 and clearing the child to return to school.
