International Baccalaureate MYP
All Twain families were sent an eNotify with a request to complete a survey regarding the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) at Twain MS by October 15, 2021. Some parents/guardians have asked how students are selected for this program, so we wanted to share more information about the IB MYP.
IB MYP is an internationally acknowledged course of study for students 11 to 16 years of age. It provides a framework of academic challenges that encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world while also becoming critical, reflective and internationally minded learners.
All classes at Twain Middle School are created in the IB MYP educational framework and, therefore, all students learn by the IB MYP method. This style of learning is continued at Edison High School.
Calendar Update
Monday, October 11 is Indigenous Peoples’ Day. This is a Professional Development Day for Staff and a Student Holiday.
PTA Updates
Congratulations to our September Staff of the Month: Christina Spencer, Student Services Assistant & Registrar. She is the face of Twain to new families. She is always helpful and responsive to questions. In September, she went above and beyond to help a student with a broken ankle navigate the school, elevator, etc. Thank you, Christina!
Each month, the administration and the PTA jointly recognize an outstanding teacher or staff member at Twain. The honoree receives an awesome certificate, a $25 gift card and an amazing parking spot close to the building. It’s just a small way to say thank you to our fantastic teachers and staff members who go that extra mile!

Spirit Night @ Chipotle, October 12, 4 to 8pm. Participate in our first Spirit Night. Please to eat in or carry out from Chipotle and give back to the PTA through your purchases. See event info on Facebook.
