Good Morning Parents & Families,
We were so fortunate to have such beautiful weather as we completed the last week of September and begin October. I am so proud of the continued growth and hard work of our students and staff each day. We also closed out the week saying farewell to Mr. Hudson, assistant principal, who has an accepted an assistant principal role at Frost Middle School. We thank Mr. Hudson for his years of dedication and service to the Stone community and wish him all the best!

Stone Middle School Safety Reminders
For your safety and the safety of our students, please pay attention to the following reminders:
- Students Who Walk or Bike to School - There have been instances where students are not following the direction of the crossing guards and are instead crossing on their own. Please remind your student to follow the direction of the crossing guard.
- Kiss & Ride - You MUST drop your student off and pick your student up at Kiss and Ride.
- Please do not drop your student off at any of the following locations:
- on Sully Park Drive
- in front of the school
- in the parking lot
- in the turn lane before Kiss and Ride
- Please do not make a U-turn on Sully Park Drive anywhere in front of the school.
When there is inclement weather, Kiss and Ride usually backs up. It is beneficial on these days to arrive for drop-off and pick-up a little earlier. Also, please remember we are partners to ensure the safety of our students and families.
Attendance Reminders
Please click the link above for Stone attendance reminders, which allows us to make sure we are running our Main Office as efficiently as possible. In particular, please pay special attention to late arrival or early dismissal procedures.
Student Arriving Late: If your student needs to come to school late, please call the attendance line at 703-631-5555 or send an email through the Stone Middle School site. The following information is necessary for a phone message or email:
- Student’s first and last name
- Date of late arrival/REASON
- Your name/signature/relationship
Student Leaving Early: If your student needs to leave early, they must bring a note to the office BEFORE school starts.
- A pass will be issued and your student will be in the main office at the scheduled release time.
- A parent must come into the office with photo identification to sign the child out.
- The following information is necessary on the note:
- Student’s first and last name/grade
- DISMISSAL TIME/REASON
- Your name/signature/relationship
Please note: We will not be able to accommodate walk-in checkout AFTER 1:45PM due to the dismissal time and the bus loop needs.
After School Program: Begins October 5

- All students must register (one-time registration)
- All students must sign-up (on a weekly basis) in order to participate in our afterschool program.

VGA Testing Update: October 5 & 7
A reminder that our students will participate in the Virgina Growth Assessments on October 5 (Math)and October 7 (Reading) this week. As a result, our schedule will be a little different on each of those days, students will report to 4th period (Panther Block) to begin the day. Please click the link above for more information.
