SR&R Reminder

Over the next several weeks, administrators will be meeting with students and classes to review SR&R policies and procedures.

FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.

Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. There are two ways for parents to acknowledge that you have received the document:

  1. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.  E-signing for one child will suffice for all siblings within the household. Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.
  2. Download and sign the Parent Signature Sheetand please return the signed signature sheet to your child's teacher.

Signatures are due by October 29, 2021.

Sangster's New Parent Liaison Position

We have a new position at Sangster – Parent Liaison. Welcome Stacy Allsbrook-Huisman to the Sangster family! This position can look very different, depending on the school. For this year, Stacy will be working closely with school staff to focus on ways to support military-connected families within our Sangster community. Stacy has an extensive background in community engagement, especially working with military families in public schools.  As an active duty spouse, Stacy understands the challenges of a highly-mobile lifestyle. She’s worked as a journalist for the last ten years covering topics relating to military life and school transition. She’s also the co-author of the resource guide book Seasons of My Military Student: Practical Ideas for Parents and Teachers. She recently hosted a webinar for FCPS’s Parent Resource Center on Military Families and School Transition.  Stacy has a rich and diverse history of family engagement apart from her experience working with military families. We are excited to welcome her aboard to support all of our Sangster families.

P2

Positivity Project

This year, Sangster will continue implementing the Positivity Project(P2). P2 is dedicated to empowering America’s youth to build strong relationships and to understand, appreciate, and exemplify the character strengths in us all. Every 1-2 weeks, students learn about a new character strength.

Positivity Project - Week of September 26, 2021

This week’s character strength is Open-Mindedness. You show this strength when you like to consider new ideas and try new things. You examine things from all sides and don’t jump to conclusions. Open-minded individuals are often good listeners and called upon to provide a balanced viewpoint. Both listening and the ability to deliver reasonable and practical advice are marks of good friends and confidantes. This strength helps individuals form meaningful and lasting relationships.

The site P2 For Families is available for connecting P2 to your home and you can learn more about the site here. Many of the slides are password protected and the password is P2 (case-sensitive).

Next Week’s Positivity Project Focus: The Other People Mindset – being present and giving others my attention
