THIS WEEK AT MADISON
WEEK OF 9/27/21
IMPORTANT INFO & EVENTS
Mask Reminder
- All students are required to wear masks while in the building. Please make sure your student has an extra one in their backpack in case theirs is lost or damaged.
Dress Code
- As students adjust back to being in school full-time, we have seen an increase in the number of dress code violations across the school. At Madison we agree that “FCPS respects students’ right to express themselves in the way they dress. It is important, however, that their appearance is tasteful and appropriate for a K-12 school setting. Discussion about dress code violations shall be held privately and maintain the dignity of the student.” (FCPS SRR).
-
Beginning October 11, school staff will begin notifying students in a discrete, respectful manner of any dress code violations that may occur. As a reminder, clothing and accessories should not:
- Display vulgar, discriminatory, or obscene language or images
- Promote illegal or violent conduct
- Contain threats or gang symbols
- Promote the unlawful use of weapons, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or drug paraphernalia
- Expose private parts or show an excessive amount of bare skin (see-through clothing)
- Contain studs or chain belts
- Include hats or other head coverings unless worn for significant religious, cultural, or medical purpose
- School administration may reach out to a student’s family if clarification is needed regarding the purpose of a head covering.
- Parents, please take a moment to remind your students of these guidelines and the October 11th date. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your child’s school counselor or school administrator.
Leaving Campus During the Day
- We are asking parents to remind their children that students are not permitted to leave school grounds during lunch, or any other time of the day, for safety and accountability reasons. Per FCPS Regulation 2234.11, students are not permitted to leave school grounds during regular school hours for any reason. If your child needs to leave school for an appointment, please make sure you provide a note to the attendance office. For more information on early checkout, please see the JMHS website.
-
Beginning October 4, we will be monitoring the front and back of the building exits to remind students not to leave campus.
Food Deliveries During the School Day
- For safety reasons, please remind your children that food may NOT be delivered (i.e., DoorDash, Uber Eats) to school grounds. If you are dropping food off for your child, please drop the food at Door 1 and text your child to pick it up in the main office. Any deliveries that are made to the school will be held in the main office until the end of the day and will be thrown away when the office closes.
