Fall Carnival

Thanks for a great Fall Carnival! It was so nice seeing our students, staff and families at a community event. It is important to make sure that our Forestville community stays connected and equally important to make sure that we stay as safe as possible while doing so.

A big thanks to our PTA and everyone who had a hand in helping make this a successful event!

Laptop Charging at Home: Students in Grades 3rd-6th

We thank you for taking care of your child's FCPS laptop at home each night.  Charging it at home ensures that it's ready to go for the next school day.

Masks and Water Bottle Reminders

Please remember to send your children to school with a mask every day. We do have masks available for emergencies. Water bottles (please no glass) are also very important to send in with your child each day. Please write your child's name in permanent marker on their water bottle.

Daily Health Screening Reminder

Parents, caregivers, and guardians are asked to monitor their children for symptoms of infectious illness every day through a home-based symptom screening and students who are sick should not attend in-person instruction. Please consider the questions in the HealthScreeningQuestionnaire for 2021-2022.pdf each morning before sending your child to school. If you answer “YES” to any of these questions, please keep your child home:

  • Feeling feverish and/or having chills –documented temperature of 100.4°F or higher?
  • Has there been any use of fever reducing medication within the last 24 hours?
  • A new cough that is not due to another health condition?
  • Nasal congestion or runny nose?
  • New shortness of breath or difficulty breathing that is not due to another health condition?
  • New chills that are not due to another health condition?
  • A new sore throat that is not due to another health condition?
  • New muscle aches that are not due to another health condition, or that may have been caused by a specific activity (such as physical exercise)?
  • Fatigue (more tired than usual)?
  • Headache?
  • A new loss of taste or smell?
  • Abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting?
  • New onset of poor appetite or poor feeding?
  • Have you had a positive test for the virus that causes COVID-19 disease within the past 10 days?
  • Were you currently tested for COVID-19 because you were sick and are still waiting for the lab results?
  • In the past 14 days, have you had close contact (within about 6 feet for 15 minutes or more) with someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19?

New Health Department Process to Expedite Communications for Students Awaiting Covid-19 Contact Interviews

The Fairfax County Health Department announced a change in their communication process for students waiting for COVID-19 contact interviews. You may read about these changes on the FCHD website. You may also wish you review the FCHD FAQs for parents of school-aged children. We appreciate the continued partnership between FCPS, FCHD and our Forestville community.
