Advanced Academics Information
Are you curious about Advanced Academic Programs in FCPS Elementary Schools? Mrs. Keane (King’s Park’s AART) has created an overview video for all families about the continuum of services. (Overview in Spanish)
Follow-up question-and-answer sessions for families will be held virtually (via Zoom) on Wednesday 9/29 6-6:45pm and Friday 10/1 10:45-11:30am. If you have lingering questions after watching the video recording, please email Mrs. Keane (makeane@fcps.edu) to ask to receive a Zoom link. Please indicate in your email which session you’d like to attend.
Advanced Academics Newsletter
FCPS provides a continuum of Advanced Academic services to elementary students. All students have opportunities to think critically, reason, and problem-solve and all teachers use critical and creative thinking strategies in their lessons. Classroom teachers provide opportunities using materials from the AAP Curriculum Framework a minimum of once per quarter. Information about the levels of service, informational meetings, and referral deadlines can be found in this linked document.

Boosterthon Fun Run. As we wrap up another successful Boosterthon Fun Run fundraiser, the PTA would like to thank all of our community's families, students, and teachers for supporting this fundraiser. The funds raised through this program go directly to our schools and provide valuable resources to all the students in our community. Thank you for your continued support!
Spirit Wear Sale. You're running out of time to buy spirit wear for the 2021-2022 school year! The last day to order spirit wear will be Thursday, September 30. We have been very excited to debut new designs and new items with this sale. Take a look at our website to view this year's products and ordering information!
Chick-Fil-A Spirit Week. A reminder to join us ANYTIME during next week, September 27 -- October 1, for a Kings Park / Kings Glen spirit week at the Burke Centre Chick-Fil-A! Kings Park Yearbook. Every year the PTA designs the Kings Park yearbook (Kings Glen's yearbook is created by the school). The PTA is looking for volunteers to help with the 2021-2022 Kings Park Yearbook.
Our immediate need is for someone to run the Cover Art Contest during the month of October. We will also need volunteers to help create the book in February and March -- most of this work can be done virtually. If you're interested in helping or if you'd like more specifics about the positions, please contact Deirdre Daumit at dbussomd@gmail.com.
