National Merit

Congratulations to our four National Merit Semi-finalist!! #WolverinePride

West Potomac would like to congratulate our four National Merit Semi-finalist!

Congratulations to (from left to right) Grant Hamilton, Matthew Morris, Geoffrey Dubay, Cara Omohundro!!  These students represent less than 1 percent of the nation's high school graduating seniors who have qualified as Semifinalist for the National Merit Program.  These students now have an opportunity to advance in the competition for some 7,500 Merit Scholarship awards.

Word Language Credit Exam

  • The 2021 World Languages Credit Exam will be administered on November 16, 17 and 18, at Robinson SS, Centreville HS, and Edison HS.
  • Thirty languages will be included: American Sign Language, Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese (Mandarin), Farsi, French, German, Greek*, Hebrew*, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Nepali, Pashto, Portuguese*, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil, Telugu, Tigrinya, Turkish*, Twi, Urdu, and Vietnamese. 
  • *Greek, Hebrew, Portuguese and Turkish will be offered by the Writing Proficiency Test by Language Testing International
  • If your child is interested in participating in one of these exams, they must contact their school counselor by Monday October 11 to be registered.

Transcript Requests

  • A reminder that Student Services needs advanced notice in order to ensure all transcript materials are sent in time for college application deadlines. Our first deadline, October 1st, for November 1st college deadlines, is approaching quickly.
