Bonnie Brae Friday Updates
Message From the Principals
Dear Wonderful Bonnie Brae Families,
We thank those of you who are able to make it to our recent Parent Coffee and, though our numbers were small, we did have a nice conversation about the current Fairfax County Health Department approach to mitigating the spread of COVID-19 in our school. For those who wanted to attend but were unable, here is the link to the recording.
We also want to thank the parents who have volunteered help supervise students during lunchtime. We could always use your help, if even for an hour! If you have are available and would like to help out during the lunch time please reach out to Ms. Rials in our front office (703-321-3900) and she can provide you with more details.
It's been a month since we opened school. During that time we have focused our reentry to school with building solid relationships, relearning the procedures and routines of the classroom, discovering the joy of learning together, and doing our best to mitigate the current health challenges. We are extremely proud of our students and staff and how they continue to work every day to build and contribute to the wonderful Bonnie Brae spirit.
Thank you for your support and contribution in that effort!
Sincerely,
Dwayne Young-Interim Principal
Elaine Woo- Assistant Principal
Scott Hawk- Assistant Principal
COVID Weekly Update
Every week, we will provide an update on our COVID-19 status to keep you informed. Parents interested in following the daily case reporting can refer to the COVID-19 Dashboard on the FCPS website. If you have any questions about how we are staying safe so we can keep learning in person, please contact the BBES office at 703-321-3900.
Bonnie Brae reports 1 positive COVID-19 cases this week. 0 are students and 1 is staff.
6 students and staff are learning and teaching remotely while in a pause, quarantine, or isolation.
Remember, do your part to keep our school safe: Wear your mask, get vaccinated if you are eligible, practice healthy hygiene, and stay home when you are sick.
Positivity Project
We continue to work to empower students to build positive relationships through the Positivity Project. Next week's focus is Being Present- Other People Mindset
Being Present and Giving Others My Attention means that when I’m with other people, I’m present and give them my full attention. Just like plants need sunlight to grow, our relationships need attention. If we don’t give our attention to the people we’re building relationships with – whether family members, close friends, or even distant colleagues – we can’t build those relationships. It’s vitally important that we pick our heads up from our cell phones and truly listen to other people when they’re talking. A positive culture is built with positive relationships – and we can’t build positive relationships without attention.

Bus Loop Safety
FCPS continues to monitor the safety of staff, students, and community. Part of that safety includes physical safety in the bus loops. At the end of the day, when busses are arriving to pick up students in the afternoon, there have been reported safety concerns of families and students crossing through the bus loop. Please continue to use the sidewalks to ensure safety of staff, students, community, and bus drivers.
