Message from Mrs. Castillo

Polos

What a fantastic showing of Lemon Road polos today! Thank you to everyone for encouraging your lion to show their school pride. We are so appreciative of the PTA for providing these for our students and staff. I have heard from a few students that they do not have one. Please email me directly or alert your classroom teacher with the requested size. We will distribute until our supply is exhausted.

Thankfully, our transportation challenges are decreasing a bit! This is great news to have all our students arrive before school and leave no later than 3:10 PM. In order to ensure that our students and staff are ready for dismissal, we ask that parents do not pick their students up between 2:40 PM and dismissal. When we are trying to locate students so close to dismissal, parents often get stuck in the bus loop or block the kiss & ride line. If you have an appointment that requires you to pick your child up early, please do so at 2:40 or earlier.

We are looking forward to Back to School Night next Wednesday. All parents will receive an eNotify with a welcome video and specific school-wide information for the evening. Parents will also receive a specific invitation to join their child’s class Zoom session at 6:00 and 7:00 PM. Classroom teachers will record at least one of their sessions and share with any family unable to join live.

Thank you for collaborating with us to keep our students healthy and safe. We are so grateful for the support we have had at lunch! We continue to need volunteers every day during lunch – both indoors and outside. Please sign up and volunteer with us whenever you can. If you (or a neighbor, acquaintance, or friend) are interested in being paid to support lunch 10:30 – 1:30 daily, please contact Mr. Birge at mbirge@fcps.edu. Another volunteer opportunity will be to support classes with picture day on Monday, September 27. We will need volunteers throughout the day between 8:00 AM and 1:30 PM. If you can volunteer, please email Ms. Nealson at manealson@fcps.edu. Volunteers for Lifetouch will earn a small credit towards their child’s photo package. Parents that wish to order ahead may do so at mylifetouch.com and use our code: EVTCCJTVN.

Thank you parents! I hope many families can stop by the Ice Cream Social tonight between 5 – 7 PM behind the school. Have a great weekend! ~ Mrs. Castillo

SR&R Acknowledgement Due

SRR

The Student Rights and Responsibilities document (SR&R) explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable and supportive school environment. All students will have the handbook on their laptop and parents can access the SR&R here. Starting this school year, parents/guardians with a ParentVUE account can download and digitally sign the SR&R in ParentVUE. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account, regardless of relationship to the student, will see the SR&R upon login to PVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed. The SR&R Parent/Guardian signature sheet is due by October 29. More information about the SR&R is available online.

Positivity Project: Teamwork

Teamwork

Teamwork is the ability and willingness to place overall group success as a higher priority than individual achievement. Citizenship is a willingness to work towards the common good as opposed to one’s own self-interest.  Those who demonstrate strengths in teamwork and citizenship often work to help all group members find success. These individuals are willing to commit time and resources in order to further group goals and help toward the greater good.
