Reminder About Items Dropped Off During The School Day

We encourage you to have your child ready to go to school in the morning with their lunch, homework, musical instrument, etc. On the rare occasion when you need to drop off an item for your child during the school day, it will be left on the credenza in the office and will be the student’s responsibility to pick up. Classes will not be interrupted to deliver items or notify students.  Breakfast and lunch are availble  free of charge so food is provided if lunch is forgotten  at home.  Thank you for your support with this practice as minimzing  disruptions  improves the learning for all our students.

Let's Talk About Equity!

The Sunrise Valley staff is focused on advancing all our students.  Providing opportunities and access within a welcoming, caring and affirming environment are essential components of our mission.  As we create this environment, our students will succeed and thrive.

Partnering with you will strengthen Sunrise Valley as a school of belonging for all students and families.  We invite your input, perspectives, and participation on this journey.

Please join and help us with this work, SVES families! This fall, we will start a series of community-wide discussions on equity addressing questions such as:

  • How can we create an environment where every family feels included and respected?
  • How can we talk about issues of race, gender, and religion with children?
  • Whose voices are not being heard in our community? How can we lift them up?

We will be exploring a variety of resources (short articles, podcasts, books, etc.) to guide our conversations.  We hope you come to listen and share your stories.

If you’d like to be involved with gathering resources or facilitating discussions, please fill out this Google form or reach out to a member of the SVES Equity team (contact information below) by Friday, October 1st.  Your voices and perspectives are invaluable as we work together to create a more inclusive community where every student shines!

COVID-19 Case Notification Update & Information Resources

We have heard from our Ombudsman that many families are finding it stressful and overwhelming to receive a new COVID notification email every time there is a positive case in their child’s school. We have updated our process to provide families some relief.

UPDATE: Once a week, either on Friday or the last day of school for the week, school leadership will share an update if there were any COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in the school that week.

Potential close contacts of the positive case that are paused from in-person instruction and activities will continue to receive real time notifications.

  • Outbreak letters will continue to be sent to staff and the community as they occur.
  • Staff will continue to receive notifications of any individual cases within 24 hours of notification of the positive case in accordance with the Department of Labor requirements.

The FCPS COVID-19 Health Metrics webpage will still be updated daily for families who wish to know about cases in real-time.
