Cardinal's Message

Dear Cunningham Park Families and Friends,

We welcomed September in with a bang this week, hopefully cooler weather is on the horizon for the next couple of weeks.  Here at school, all of our Cardinals are building strong classroom communities and learning routines to set everyone up for a successful school year.  We are so happy to see everyone back in the building!

As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow, Friday, September 3rd and Monday, September 6th due to the Labor Day weekend.  Have a great 4-day weekend!

Sincerely,

Katie Le, Principal and Jon Kemmerer, Assistant Principal

Kiss & Ride Protocols

Just like the beginning of every school year, the first few weeks of school can be hectic as everyone gets used to the schedule, logistics, and timing of getting students to and from school.

To help with these times, we want to share some safety guidelines that are helpful  and will increase the efficiency for everybody.

  • When driving in the Kiss & Ride refrain from using cell phones
  • No passing other cars, please be patient as some of our younger Cardinals learn to get in and out of their cars
  • Drivers must remain in the car
  • Children may enter and exit on passenger side only
  • Make sure your child can buckle and unbuckle safety belts/ car seats and open/close doors on their own; this may require practicing these procedures at home
  • Placards for Kiss & Ride cars are being finalized.  We will send them out to families as soon as they are completed.  Once you receive the placard, please display it on the dashboard of you car

Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R)

Occasions of Changes to Student Routes

On the occasion that a student will be leaving school in a different way than usual, an email must be sent to the teacher and to Beth Copeland in the front office at EHCopeland@fcps.edu.

All changes in afternoon transportation plans must be received by the teacher and the office no later than 3:00pm.

Checking Out Students Early

Adults should notify students' teachers ahead of time if they will be picking their children up early for appointments or any other reason.

The latest time a student may be checked out early is 3:00pm each school day. For safety reasons, adults who arrive after 3:00pm to retrieve their children will need to wait for dismissal.

Only parents/ guardians and individuals listed on the student Emergency Care Card may pick up a student from school.  Please be prepared to show identification.

Masks, Masks, Masks

This is a reminder that all visitors entering the school building must wear a mask at all times regardless of vaccination status.

We have student masks in the main office, but if possible, please send an extra one with your student to have in their backpack in case of an emergency.
