1. Message from Mrs. Miller
Dear Olde Creek Families and Friends,
Our Olde Creek Bears had a thrilling week as they returned for the first week of school! It was an amazing week as we welcomed our students home and filled our classrooms and hallways with student voices and laughter.
Thank you to all of our families that were able to join us for Bears Bedtime Stories on the eve of our first day. It was great to get those “jitters” out together and get excited for the first day!
We are grateful for your support and patience this week. Thank you to everyone for following our safety procedures as we keep the health and safety of our students and staff our priority. If you are not already, we recommend sending in a water bottle with your student. They are able to fill it up throughout the day at our filling stations.
We were also thrilled to see our talented librarian, Mrs. Smalley featured in the OurFCPS Faces Profile this week (seen below)! Way to go, Mrs. Smalley!
Thank you for an outstanding first week, it is going to be an exceptional year! We look forward to seeing everyone who can join us at our PTA meeting next week.
Stronger Together,
Melissa Miller, Principal Alison Butler, Assistant Principal Kelly Durso, Assistant Principal
2. Student Rights and Responsibilities
The Student Rights and Responsibilities Book is a guide for families explaining the expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety. We ask that you review this document and use it as a framework for discussing these expectations with your child.
Printing of the actual Booklet has been delayed so we ask that you review the book at the link below and return the signed Parent Signature sheet to your child's homeroom teacher by October 29, 2021.
Student Rights & Responsibilities 2021-2022
Signature Sheet: 2021-2022 Parent/Guardian Signature Sheet
3. Welcome Walk Feedback
We had an amazing time visiting our students during our first ever welcome walk! We would love to get your feedback on this event as we plan for upcoming events. Please submit your feedback through this Welcome Walk Feedback Form. Thank you to everyone who has already shared feedback!

4. Birthday Treats
As shared during our back to school parent session, this year, we will be instituting some new ways to celebrate students’ birthdays. In response to COVID-19 related health and safety procedures, birthday treats/food will not be accepted. Parents are encouraged to dedicate a book in their child’s name to be read on their birthday that can stay in the teacher’s classroom library. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have another idea.
5. Woodson Orchestra Pyramid Night - August 30
Woodson High School is holding a Woodson Orchestra Pyramid Night on Monday, August 30 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm (enter through Door #18). Families will listen to live music and visit each instrument station to see what each instrument can do. 10. Health and Safety Updates
The health and safety of our students, staff, and community are the school system’s highest priority and every day we are working closely with health officials to review our layered prevention strategies and ensure our schools and buildings are safe places to learn and work. We are also using universal masking as a key mitigation strategy.
We encourage all families to review the FCPS Health & Safety Document which includes information regarding:
Screen for Illness Every Day, Stay Home When Sick
As a reminder, any student who is ill or has COVID-like symptoms should remain at home. The daily health screening questionnaire and all translated versions can be found on our Health and Safety Guidance webpage. Daily completion of the health screening is done on an honor basis and does not need to be sent to the school.
11. Beginning of Year Forms
It is important that we have updated information from all families to start the school year.
In ParentVUE, you can access the weCare module to update emergency care information and health information. Each school year parents need to verify the information in weCare for each student. We are required to have this completed at the start of each school year to meet regulations. For information on accessing weCare in ParentVUE, click here.
There are other forms linked below that parents may print and drop off in the main office or send in with your child. These forms will also be sent home on the first day of school.
