Information about Family Life Education (FLE) Classes at Liberty
Liberty Middle School has created a folder in Schoology for families to preview the materials used in Family Life Education (FLE). Click here for easy access to FLE materials. https://lms.fcps.edu/course/5193842942/materials?f=492236693 The folder contains links to the lessons, slide presentations, and videos. FLE will be taught at Liberty through PE classes during the week of March 28-31. Families are given an opportunity to opt out of some or all of the lessons by emailing the opt out request to Jenni Carnahan at JSCarnahan@fcps.edu A letter about FLE classes at Liberty will be mailed to families in September.
Student Break Time Wish List
NEW to Liberty this school year is a 15 minute Break Time for students every day during 5th and 6th periods. Please look at our AMAZON WISH LIST for games and sports equipment to support an active and fun Break Time. Your donations are shipped directly to Liberty Middle School and benefit all students.
Photo Day
- We will be taking student photos on September 13 and 14 during your student’s PE class.
- Flyers with information for ordering photos will be sent home in September.
Volunteer Opportunity on School Photo Days
We are looking for four adult volunteers to help on school photo days, September 13 and 14. Volunteers will be asked to hand out photo cards to students as they wait to be photographed. Volunteers receive a complimentary photo package of their student as a thank you for helping. If you sign up to volunteer, please mark your student’s photo envelope with “Parent Volunteer” so a complimentary package can be prepared. To volunteer, please sign up through Sign Up Genius.

Chaperones needed
The Science 7 students will be participating in a Meaningful Watershed Education Experience (MWEE) at Burke Lake Park the week of September 28 – October 1, 2021 . If you would like to spend the day outside learning about our watersheds, please consider becoming a chaperone on your student’s trip date. The time commitment is approximately 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM. Please contact your student’s science teacher for more information or to volunteer. A permission form as well as a lunch intent and chaperone interest form have been sent home and must be returned by Wednesday, Sept 8. Please consider becoming a chaperone for our day at Burke Lake. We appreciate your willingness to spend the day (rain or shine) with us.

Liberty After-School Programs
Liberty After-School will begin on Monday, September 20th. Students will be given information and directions to sign up for programs during their Unity Time on Monday, September 13th. Families can participate in a virtual information session as part of the Back-to-School Night presentations. A separate “News You Choose” email will also go out to all families next week with information about the program, logistics and a current schedule of programs. For general information, please review the attached After-School Flyer.
ALL STUDENTS should be registered using this link whether they are staying for activities, or just occasionally with a teacher or for a performance rehearsal.
Earbuds Available in Main Office
Students are enjoying learning in person and using their laptops for some of their classroom activities. If students forget their earbuds, they may purchase earbuds in the main office during the school day for $1.
Liberty Middle School 5K/1K Fun Run
Please go to https://www.asha-jyothi.org to register. Use code AJ4Schools to get a $10 discount on the 5K. The school with the most participants will win a grant for a new INNOVATION LAB! Be sure to choose Liberty Middle School under the school name when you register! Family members are welcome to sign up too!
