Please see the attached flyer for your grade level schedules.

Back to School Night

Due to Covid, only one parent will be able to attend in person.  No students will be able to attend.  Masks are required for all parents and staff.

*Unfortunately due to technology complications, no live streaming will be available during the Back to School Night event as advertised, however a video & slide deck will be posted in Schoology as soon as possible. (this is a change from Mr. D'Amato's welcome video).

Preschool families will be contacted for a personalized Back to School Night plan.

Bucky's Bucks Assembly

Today our students were all smiles, laughter and excitement as we assembled outdoors to cheer for Bucky's incentive program.

Bucky’s Bucks are part of our school wide positive behavior system that is built around three expectations, be respectful, be responsible, and be safe.  Staff reviews the expectations of what it means to be your best Bucky across all classroom settings. When a staff member notices a student or a group of students being their best Bucky, they will give them a buck that can be counted toward their class total.

Classrooms keep track of their total bucks and earn a set celebration ranging from social media shout outs, graffiti lunch, to our top celebration, Bucky’s Bash!

Thank you to our wonderful Deer Park PTA for the purchase of our new Bucky mascot!

Dismissal Safety!

Parents,

Our students' safety is our first priority and we ask for your cooperation and patience as we perfect our dismissal procedures. When entering the Kiss and Ride line at dismissal time, please pull all the way forward toward the end of the parking lot near the exit area.  Students will be waiting with staff members for pickup.  This will allow the buses access to enter the parking lot without the congestion we were experiencing.

Please do NOT make a U-Turn while on Carlbern in front of the school.

In the morning for drop off, please have your child prepared with all belongings and ready to get out of the car.

If your child is in a carseat, if possible, please have the seat on the left side of the car (behind the driver) so your child can climb out of the carseat and exit on the right passenger side of the car and our staff can assist more readily.

Please do NOT pass other cars in the Kiss and Ride line unless directed to do so by Deer Park staff.

Thank you for your cooperation as we make this process as safe and efficient as possible.

Parental Consent for Select Digital Resources

At Deer Park, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: https://deerparkes.fcps.edu/adopteddigitalresources

Included on this page is also a link to a form  Parental Consent for Digital Resources 21-22 where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission. This form needs to be filled out each school year. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year.

Student Rights and Responsibilities

The Student Rights and Responsibilities Book is a guide for families explaining the expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety.  We ask that you review this document and use it as a framework for discussing these expectations with your child.

Printing of the actual Booklet has been delayed so we ask that you review the book at the link below and return the signed Parent Signature sheet to your child's homeroom teacher by October 29, 2021.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS VOLUNTEER NEEDED

FCPS is requiring a PTA member to be present during all after-school clubs. We will need a volunteer to be at the school 3:20-4:35 Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from Oct.18-Dec.17. Duties will be making sure all instructors are FCPS approved/with FCPS badge, contacting parents/guardians of absent children, making sure children are dismissed to parent/guardian or SACC.

We know this is a big ask for our Deer Park community. We are willing to offer the volunteer a free pass for their child to one of the clubs scheduled: OTA Sports Spectacular & Mad Science Funky Forces (Tuesdays), Silver Knights Chess (Wednesdays), and Enrichment Matters Lego Robotics (Thursdays).

IF WE ARE UNABLE TO SECURE A VOLUNTEER WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OFFER AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS.

Please email the PTA ASAP if you are interested in being a volunteer.
