Welcome Back to School

Dear McLean High School Families,

We are excited to welcome you to school and hope that you and your families had a safe, healthy, and rewarding summer! Whether you are a newcomer to the school or a returning member of the McLean High School community, the PTSA wants to welcome you to the finest high school in Fairfax County.

The PTSA is here to offer our support to the outstanding Highlander administrators, faculty, and our amazing students. Our goal is to make sure that there is a strong school-community connection.

We invite you to join the PTSA for your child because increasing our membership, by even one, makes it possible to provide important educational resources, speak up on important issues, and create a stronger school community. There is no wrong or right way to be involved — anything you can give, whether it is time or money, will support your child's potential.

Thank you and welcome back,

  • Sandra P. Buteau, President
  • Sooa Kang Kwon, Secretary

Lemon Road Elementary School Fall Festival

Lemon Road Elementary School (7230 Idylwood Road) will be holding its Fall Festival on Saturday, September 25 from 10:00pm- 3:00pm.

The event is the PTA's annual fall fundraiser and its success hinges on having enough volunteers to help bring the carnival atmosphere to life. This is a great opportunity for you to fulfill service hour requirements.

Middle and high school volunteers will supplement adult volunteers and help run carnival games, face painting, as well as help with setup and clean up.

You can view the SignUp Genius here and all slots for middle and high school volunteers are clearly marked.

If you have any questions reach out to the Lemon Road PTA at lemonroadpta@gmail.com. The onsite coordinator will be in touch with you regarding signing service hour forms if you choose to volunteer.

Humanitas4All mentorship program

Students Mentoring Students

The Humanitas4All (HumScouts) After School Program is an online program dedicated to helping elementary and middle school students stay on track with learning during the school term. The goal of this program is to provide homework help, fun activities, positive character development, and support to young students and their families.

The HumScout after-school sessions are offered for students in grades K to 7th grade and will occur after school via Google Meet. Students will be paired with mentors from Thomas Jefferson and Mclean High School, prepared with fun and educational activities for the classes.

Help spread the word about the opportunity for students to earn service hours by becoming mentors for the HumScouts Program.

Students can sign up here to volunteer at and they will be contacted with more specific information.

Schoology

Fairfax County Public Schools’ contract with Blackboard ended on June 30. Our new learning management system, Schoology, is a learning space that enhances face-to-face and distance learning through communication, collaboration, and personalized learning.

Teachers use Schoology to post their classroom materials online; to provide a safe forum for students to discuss their ideas and collaborate on projects; and to assign and collect homework electronically. It helps students stay organized and it keeps the class connected.

Parent Accounts

A Schoology Parent Account gives you access to:

  • Your child’s classes.
  • Your child’s upcoming assignments.
  • School, class, and group announcements.

To access Schoology, parents will need to have an active SIS/ParentVUE account. Links for more information on how to login and use Schoology:
