 Soaring Together Again
What an amazing week it was! We welcomed back all teachers and staff on Monday for our inspiring Staff Kick Off, and the dedicated staff spent the week planning, learning, and preparing together for our students’ return. They can't wait to see you!
Thursday evening’s Welcome Walks were absolutely magical. Staff visited all our Forestdale Falcons at home, and it was an incredible opportunity to connect with students and families in the community and welcome them back to school.
We ended our week together with our Forestdale Family Day on Friday! The combined Open House/Back-to-School Night event was topped off with our Family BBQ. The rain stopped, the sun came out, and we ate, played, and danced together all evening. The energy and love overwhelming.
How amazing it is to be back together as one! Here's to the 2021-2022 school year!
See you Tomorrow!
We are looking forward to seeing our Falcons tomorrow, August 23, for the first day of school! Here are a few reminders for parents:
Our school hours are from 8:50 a.m. to 3:35 p.m. The doors will open at 8:40 a.m., and parents may walk their child to the classroom door on Monday, August 23 and Tuesday, August 24. Students will be walking to class independently with staff support beginning Wednesday, August 25.
Free breakfast and lunch for all students. All students will be offered breakfast and lunch for free this year. If your child chooses to eat breakfast at home and bring a lunch to school, no worries. Please make sure any packed snacks or meals are in plastic containers that your child can open without adult assistance.
No lunch visitors at this time. Please note that in order to reduce capacity and support the health and safety of our students during lunch, outside visitors will not be allowed at lunch at this time.
Bring a water bottle. Water fountains will not be available for students to drink from. However, students may fill up their water bottles at classroom sinks.
Mask Up. Students will be required to wear a mask throughout the school day except for when they are actively eating and drinking. It is recommended that not fully vaccinated individuals wear masks when outdoors in crowded spaces. When outside for recess, we will encourage students to social distance and provide mask breaks. Full details regarding face masks are available here in the Health and Safety Guidance Document.
Please note, the following types of masks are not recommended:
- Face coverings/masks that do not fit properly (gaps, too loose, too tight)
- One-layer coverings/masks and gaiters
- Face coverings/masks with exhalation values or vents
It’s a good idea to put an extra mask or two in a baggie for your child. This helps if they get wet or destroyed by accident. The school also has extra masks for students in case of an emergency.
Screen your child’s health daily. Parents/guardians are required to complete the daily health screening questionnaire prior to sending their student to school each morning. The required screening must be completed for all school-aged children in the household. If your child exhibits any symptoms, please keep your child at home. The daily health screening questionnaire will be completed on an honor basis and will not be required to be submitted to the school.
The daily health screening questionnaire is available in the following languages: English, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.
