This Week at Frost - August 20, 2021

Welcome to the 2021- 2022 School Year!

Greeting Frost MS Students and Families!

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! We are extremely excited to welcome our students back to the building for five days a week of instruction. I hope everyone had a fantastic summer and that you are ready to be back at school! Your teachers have been preparing this week and are excited to welcome you to Frost MS! We will continue to work together to be #ONEFrost!

This year, I’ve asked our school staff to be prepared to “Build, Together!” Just as our school building is being renovated and will have a new look, so will our work as a faculty and staff! We are going to collectively build together supports and structure for our students’ academic and social and emotional learning this school year!

We know that FCPS has sent out communication asking parents to drive their children to school because of school bus driver shortages.  We have not been notified of that problem for Frost, so far!  If we are notified that we will have a driver shortage for Frost, we will communicate at the appropriate time. If your student is assigned a bus, we are asking you to please put them on their bus. The traffic with the construction will be challenging this school year!

You can find your child’s bus information in ParentVue. Go to Student Information, then click on Other Info.

There are plenty of updates in today’s edition of This Week at Frost! I hope you enjoy your weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone bright and early on Monday morning!

As always, “Work Hard. Be Nice. Widen Your Circle!” We are #ONEFrost!

Things to Remember....

Student Schedules

They are now available on SIS.  Those students who cannot access their schedule or do not remember their first period class will be directed to the cafeteria where counselors will share that information and direct them to the appropriate classroom. All students will receive an additional paper copy in their first period classes.

First day of School Reminders

  • A bell schedule is available on Frost website.  Please review prior to the first day of school.  The first day is a BLUE day with periods 1, 3, 5, and 7.
  • Lunch assignments will be given on the first day of school through 5th period classes, and on Tuesday through 6th period classes. Teachers will escort their classes to the cafeteria for the appropriate lunch time and students will sit at assigned tables for the first couple of weeks. They will have an opportunity to change tables after that time.
  • If your student is a bus rider, please make sure you know their bus stop location, number, and time. You can find this in SIS. click here to log in to your Parent Vue Account. Please contact the transportation office directly with questions: 703-446-2050.
  • You can track your student’s bus route in real time using the app “Here Comes the Bus.” Use district code 28982.
  • Student supplies for the first day of school needs to be a backpack, fully charged laptop, pens/pencils, paper, and a folder. Students do not need to bring the full supply list with them on the first day of school. Students who do not already have a laptop will be issued one during first period.
  • Free breakfast and lunch are available for all students.  If students want an additional meal, they will need to pay the meal fee.
  • Students should charge their laptop every night and bring it with them to school every day.

Returning Strong- Health and Safety Measures

FCPS is returning strong for a strong school year this fall. Students will engage in in-person learning five days a week in safe and supportive schools.

As we prepare to welcome students back to the classroom, COVID-19 case numbers are increasing in Fairfax County, driven by the highly-contagious Delta variant and slowing vaccination rates. The key to maintaining a healthy environment for learning is a robust vaccination rate and layered prevention strategies, including universal masking.

There are three things we can all do to start strong this fall:

  1. Wear a mask
  2. Get vaccinated
  3. Stay connected

The Student Health and Safety Document is continually updated and provides detailed information on school policies and protocols related to COVID-19 such as adherence to layered prevention strategies. These guidance documents will continue to be updated to align with public health guidance.
