OpenHouse

Open House Information

Students are invited to visit the school, meet their classroom teachers, drop off school supplies, and deposit funds in their lunch accounts. Please plan to wear a mask.

The Open House schedule will be:

Kindergarten Only 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

First – Sixth Grade 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Please know, that while we are very excited to see you and your child at Open House, we kindly ask that you not linger in the classroom or building longer than needed. Please go directly to your child’s current classroom (not former teachers) and then exit to enjoy the rest of your evening! If you are unable to attend Open House, your child will bring an envelope home the first day of school with all the school forms that need to be filled out and completed. Students may also bring supplies the first day as well.

Planning to Have Your Child Ride the Bus?

Eligible riders needing transportation may review student route assignment by accessing ParentVue any time after August 9th, or by contacting your transportation or school office. Additions and adjustments will be made weekly. All students eligible for transportation services will be provided transportation, even those whose parents did not complete the FCPS Transportation Survey. Transportation plans to send an eNotify message to remind parents to check their ParentView to confirm transportation details on August 19th.

During the school year, changes to your intent can be made at any time with Ricardo Bermudez or Sheryl Hall in our front office if the need for transportation changes.

Kiss and Ride Information

Kiss and Ride drop off is located at Door 3.  Kiss and Ride begins at 8:20 am; please do not drop off your child earlier than 8:20 am.  For your child's safety, they should exit the car door closest to the curb.  This year every family will receive an assigned Kiss and Ride car tag number.  The tag will be in the beginning of the year envelope of the oldest and/or only child in your family at Ravensworth.

School Breakfast/Lunch

This year, all FCPS students will be offered a no cost breakfast and lunch for the entire school year! Menus will be available online beginning August 18 at https://fcps.nutrislice.com/menu/ravensworth-elementary

An additional lunch entrée costs $4.50.

Grab and Go breakfasts will be available to students as they enter the building each day.

Our lunch schedule includes only two grade levels in the cafeteria during each lunch period. Students will have assigned spots with plexiglass dividing the tables. We are continuing to work on our plans to make sure we have the best possible scenario for students.

Here are additional precautionary measures we will take:

  • Students will be required to wear masks in the cafeteria when not actively eating and drinking.
  • Students will need to wear their masks while going through the serving line.
  • Our cafeteria space will be regularly and thoroughly cleaned with a sanitizing solution.
  • Students will wash their hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer before and after eating.

FCPSon and Laptops

All FCPS students in grades 3-6 are part of the FCPSon Program. Students are assigned a laptop that they responsible for during the school year. FCPS requires that students in grades 3-6 take their laptops home and back to school daily. Our students in grades K-2 will have assigned laptops that stay in their classroom.

School Building

School Safety Information

Universal Masking: FCPS requires everyone (students, teachers, staff, and visitors) to wear a mask inside schools and FCPS buildings. Students and staff may remove masks while actively eating, for outside recess, physical education class, or other outside activities.

Handwashing/Sanitizing: We will continue to focus on hand washing/sanitizing throughout the school day. Some examples include: entering and exiting the playground, before and after eating, and when entering the classroom.

Buses: Masks are required on the bus. FCPS school buses will seat more than one student to a seat as needed.

Care Room: If a staff member observes a student displaying symptoms of COVID-19 s/he directs the child to our Care Room (separate from the Health Room, where students get medications, band-aids, etc.) for care and parent pickup. FCPS has protocols for our staff to follow when infections are known or suspected.

FCPS is committed to continuity of learning during the 2021-2022 school year. We want to ensure our families that while we can never guarantee total student safety, we have layered prevention strategies in place, and our staff takes them seriously. We are planning for a fabulous year of learning and fun and want all our Ravensworth student to be healthy and able to have a fantastic learning experience this year.
