Welcome our students and families back to school for five days of in person learning!
We'd love for you to join us for these in person opportunities for students and families to connect with teachers, each other, and resource.
August 18th- Dranesville Family Resource Night 4:30-6:30 pm
We invite families to stop by Dranesville ES to access resources to support students in a strong start to the 21-22 school year. We will have staff available to assist with Parent VUE and Schoology so that you are connected to your child's teachers, classes, newsletters, and progress. There will also be school supplies available and the opportunity to complete Free and Reduced Meal applications and to sign up for additional resources throughout the year: backpack meals, scholarships for field trips, Thanksgiving Meal baskets, and Angel Tree/Winter Holiday gifts.
August 19th- Welcome Walks 9:30 am-12:30 pm
Our teachers and staff are excited to meet and connect with students and families. Dranesville teachers, counselors, and specialists will be out and about between 9:30-12:30, visiting students for a doorstep "Welcome". If student is not available, teachers will leave a note and connect by phone! Teachers will also be available to meet students and families during Open House on Friday!
August 20th- Open House 10:00 am-1:00 pm
Our doors will open for students and families to visit, connect with former teachers, meet new teachers, drop off school supplies, and explore our building and grounds guided by a scavenger hunt. Schools supplies ordered through our PTA have been delivered. If you are not able to attend Open House, our volunteers will be sure that your child's supplies are delivered to their classroom.
Our clinic will be open and staffed by our School Health Aide. Caregivers may drop off students' medications at this time.
August 23rd- First Day of School 9:20 am-4:05 pm
Our bell schedule is 9:20-4:05. Kiss and Ride and doors open at 9:05. For students' safety, it is important that families using Kiss and Ride drive through the loop off of Powells Tavern, pull all the way up to the loading/unloading zone, and have students exit/enter curbside, and drivers remain in the car. Thank you for your support in keeping our students safe and traffic flowing.
September 1st- Back to School Night 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm
We are excited to welcome you for our in person Back to School Night. This is an opportunity to visit your child's classroom, connect with their teacher, and begin the collaborative partnership to ensure a successful and joyful school year.
All of our return to school events are in person. Please note that masks are required for in person events within FCPS schools.

Teacher assignments will be available in SIS Parent VUE on August 18th. If you need assistance creating a Parent VUE account, please contact our main office 703-326-5200 and we are happy to assist you!

FREE Breakfast and Lunch for All Students
When we return strong this fall, FCPS’ Food and Nutrition Services staff will be ready to serve healthy meals to students and staff.
Breakfast will be “grab & go” at each school so students are prepared to begin their day of learning.
Five days of hot lunches will be back for that mid-day refuel.
