The first day of school is Monday, August 23, 2021! On the first day of school, in order to implement layered protection strategies, we ask families to say goodbye to students at the arrival doors (Door 1, Door 3, Door 4, & Door 6). Staff members will be assigned throughout the building to get all students to class safely.
Our Bell Schedule
London Towne is returning to the 8:20 a.m. start time. Students are encouraged to arrive between 8:05 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. Students arriving after 8:20 a.m. must enter at Door 1 and check in with the office prior to heading to class. We will dismiss at 3:05 p.m.
Arrival and Dismissal
During arrival, students may enter at either Door 1, Door 3, Door 4, Door 6 (Kiss & Ride), or the modular doors beginning at 8:05 a.m. The front bus loop is closed to traffic between 8:05 a.m. & 8:15 a.m.
We begin dismissal at 3:05 p.m. Please meet your child at the following locations:
- Kindergarten Walkers | Library door
- Grades 1-6 Walkers | Door 3
- Kiss & Ride | Door 6
Bus information can be found in your SIS ParentVUE account.
SIS ParentVUE Information
Families can access information about their child’s attendance, class performance, and manage emergency communication and FCPS forms via a SIS ParentVUE account. Click here for more information about SIS ParentVUE accounts. If you need an activation code, please call the school at 703-227-5400.
Social Distancing and School Supplies
When at school, social distancing between students of 3 feet will be encouraged to the extent possible with full class sizes. It’s important to realize that there will be times in which our Lions will be closer than 3 feet. Hence, mitigation measures of mask wearing and frequent handwashing will be in place.
Students are encouraged to use their individual school supplies on a daily basis. There may be times when students will need to share instructional materials. In those instances, students will be asked to wash or sanitize their hands before and after use.
Students will not have access to drink from communal water fountains. Instead, students should bring a water bottle to school daily. Students may fill up their water bottle at classroom sinks.

Masks for All
As adults and students return to the school building, all will be required to wear masks. If your child is not used to wearing masks for extended periods, now is the time to practice!
At this time, students will be allowed to take off their masks when they are actively eating and drinking and during outside activities. Click here for more information regarding the FCPS' Return to School Mask Guidance.
Meals at School
When eating at school, students will be asked to wash/sanitize their hands before and after eating. We will work with our Lions to make sure they understand that masks are removed only when they are actively eating or drinking. At LTES, we will use the cafeteria, gym, and our Pods to accommodate our lunch block and ensure students are socially distant. We will use shields on tables and limit the number of students to half-capacity per table. Students eating in the gym will use lap desk.
We are pleased to announce that FCPS has received a waiver from the USDA that will allow all students to receive breakfast and lunch at school free of charge. Students have the option to decline breakfast or lunch if they choose to eat at home or bring a lunch to school. Breakfast and lunch begin on the first day of school.
For further information regarding Food and Nutrition Services, to include menu options, click here.
While students will receive free meals this year, it’s important that families continue to apply for and update their Free and Reduced-Price Meal status yearly, if eligible. Applications for free and reduced meals are mailed directly to families and must be completed and returned each school year. Applications can also be completed and submitted online at https://www.myschoolapps.com.
Please remember, it can take up to two weeks to process an application once it is received at the Office of Food and Nutrition Services. A letter will be sent home confirming approval or denial of the application. Parents may use approval letters to qualify for other benefits.
Volunteers and Visitors to LTES
As we return to in-person instruction for all students, we know families are interested in volunteering and coming by for lunch. As we begin the school year and navigate safety protocols and space limitations, we are not opening for volunteers or visits during lunch, at this time. We will keep families informed of any future changes and look forward to expanding our volunteer and lunch room visits in the future.
