Welcome Back Family!!!
In a few weeks, we will begin the new school year and we hope everyone is ready! During the summer, the staff has been excitedly preparing for our students’ return. Although school will not look exactly like it did before the pandemic, there will be similarities. We are looking forward to continuing to provide all of our students with a supportive yet rigorous learning environment where students are engaged daily in problem solving and critical thinking lessons. We will be providing our students continued opportunities to utilize technology throughout the day while also engaging in conversations that deepen and expand their thinking. We will intensify our focus on addressing targeted learning needs and providing what each child needs to reach his or her potential.
The integration of our character education traits will be modeled and taught throughout the day. In addition, we remain committed to supporting the social/emotional and mental health needs of our students. Students will have access to class, small group and individual lessons taught by our teachers, Guidance Counselors, Social Workers and Psychologist. We will be providing their contact information later, for now please contact the office at 703-700-2000 if you feel your child has needs in this area. The physical safety of our students will remain a top priority. FCPS currently requires all students and staff to wear masks while in the building. You may find the most current information on the FCPS website on the Health and Safety Guidelines page.
The first day of school is Monday, August 23, 2021 and our school hours are 8:45 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Please contact us if you have a question, concern or suggestions. We are here and want to work with all of our parents to provide the best experience that we can for our children.
See you soon!!!
Sharon, Theresa and Brandon
As I am assuming the new position of Assistant Principal, I am excited to serve the students, staff, and community. Having worked at Woodley Hills for several years I fully understand and embrace the culture of a Community of Caring and high expectations for all stakeholders.
I have been in the field of education for 25 years as a teacher and administer, continuously growing in the profession to maximize my skills to teach, lead, and mentor adults and students. My experiences have included me building a cadre of strong instructional leaders, developing strategic plans, implementing comprehensive professional development plans, providing a Professional Learning Community approach and partnering with organizations to increase awareness of what we do best: preparing today’s students for tomorrow. I have worked to implement a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) to use data-based problem solving to integrate academic and behavioral instruction with intervention strategies. I supported all staff in exemplifying good character, working collaboratively, maintaining personal accountability and focusing on results.
I maintain an uncompromising view that all students will learn when provided with a highly effective instructional program and a positive learning atmosphere. I look forward to working with all stakeholders to focus on continuous improvement to maximize the talents of the staff and students.
It is an honor to be able to serve as the Assistant Principal of Woodley Hills Elementary. I look forward to helping lead the great things that have been happening in the school and community.

OPEN HOUSE and WELCOME TO SCHOOL – August 19
On Thursday, August 19 we will welcome our family members at our annual Open House! While there is not a formal presentation, this is a time for you and your child to meet the teacher and leave any supplies you may have purchased. We are asking families whose last names start with letters A-H to arrive between 2:00 and 2:30 and families whose last names start with letters I -Z to arrive between 2:45 and 3:15. Please know that we will not be opening the doors until 2:00 pm, so there is no need to arrive too early. Also, you do not need to gather near the main doors because ALL doors will be opened and staff will be nearby to assist. Feel free to park on the blacktop but be sure not to block any cars.
BREAKFAST and LUNCH
We are very excited to share that ALL students will receive a FREEE Breakfast and Lunch this year. Your child may bring lunch to school this year, but ask that you not send soda or meals that must be heated. We are asking that students bring a water bottle every day. This may be a reusable or recyclable bottle.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
We are excited to share that we will provide our students with pencils, some composition notebooks, crayons, glue, etc. due to donations. We are truly thankful for the generous support of Kids R First, staff members friends and families as well as Costco. There are a few items that parents will need to provide for students: a backpack, water bottle, headphones/earbuds and extra masks. There are specific items that we ask to be purchased and you can find the grade level lists at https://woodleyhillses.fcps.edu/ If your family needs support obtaining supplies, please do not hesitate to contact the school office at 703-799-2000
