Dear Academy Parents/Guardians and Students,
A big welcome to all of our new and returning students/families to Fairfax Academy! We hope you have enjoyed your summer and are feeling rested and rejuvenated. It’s hard to believe that the 2021-22 SY is already upon us! We had a very productive summer here at the Academy and are anticipating a sensational school year.
Please help us in welcoming two instructors that are *new* to our Academy family this year! We are excited to share that Stacy Chong is our new Fashion Careers teacher, and Dawn Welters is an additional instructor for our growing American Sign Language program.
'Back to School' dates, information, and forms have been updated and posted on the Fairfax Academy website. Please take time to review and complete all necessary forms.
Some important upcoming events to note are:
PARKING TAG DISTRIBUTION:
- Wednesday August 11th from 3pm - 6pm.
- Please enter at Door 10 (Academy entrance off Old Lee Hwy.)
If your student will be driving to/from class at Fairfax Academy, they will need an Academy parking tag to park on school grounds. Our Academy office will be distributing parking tags on Wednesday, Aug. 11th, from 3-6pm. Please complete the following before arriving:
- Fill out this Parking Tag Google form, or see our website for a PDF form.
- Bring the signed copy of the parking tag agreement or the completed PDF form.
- Bring a copy of the student’s valid driver’s license or permit.
- Bring all completed Academy back to school paperwork with you. All back-to-school forms can be found on our website: https://fairfaxacademy.fcps.edu/resources/forms
Paper copies of all forms will be available at our office as well and can be filled out upon your arrival. If you have purchased a parking tag at the base school, please bring that with you, or your proof of purchase. If you will not be purchasing a tag at the base school, our cost is $67 for the year, payable by cash (exact change only), or check made out to Fairfax High School.
Fairfax High School student drivers should apply for parking privileges directly with Fairfax HS, and not Fairfax Academy.
If you are not able to come to this event, parking tags will also be sold at Orientation on August 19th, and throughout the year during normal school hours. Student parking is limited, and availability is on a first-come basis. We cannot reserve tags/spaces. Questions, call the Academy office at 703-219-2226.
FAIRFAX ACADEMY ORIENTATION:
- Thursday, August 19th from 1:30pm- 6pm.

The Fairfax Academy Orientation will be hosted on the same date and time as the Fairfax High School Open House. This will be a social opportunity for students and families to meet teachers, build community, and explore our instructional spaces.
Academy students and parents should park outside of and enter door 10. The Academy orientation table and office will be available to families starting at 12:30 pm. Please drop- off forms prior to visiting classrooms.
Teachers will be available in their rooms from 1:30pm – 3pm and from 4:30pm - 6pm. Food trucks will be available in front of the building from 2:30pm - 4:30pm.
NOTE: All Fairfax Academy students must submit required forms every school year. Any forms submitted to the base schools are not shared with our office, therefore, we need our own copies. Please review our forms page here:https://fairfaxacademy.fcps.edu/resources/forms. Families can submit paperwork through our Google form, or bring hard copies to Orientation. Copies of all forms are available in our office. Please note that pictures of forms will not be accepted. Questions, please contact Mrs. Cate in the Academy office at 703-219-2226.
* If you are a Fairfax HS student/ parent, be sure to check the Fairfax High School website or newsletters for more information regarding events.

-- CAREER EXPERIENCE EXPO: Friday, November 5th. (The Expo is an all-day event for current Fairfax Academy students).

We are so happy to share that we have a BRAND NEW Academy sign outside of our Door 10 entrance (off of Old Lee Highway, around the back of Fairfax High School building).
Look for this sign so you know where to enter for our Academy events!
