REturn to school

Returning Strong for Five in Fall!

Fairhill Staff is excited to have our students back in person this fall!  Please click here to read all about the new rules and changes that will be implemented in FCPS schools this year, such as meal information, returning to school safely, health and safety guidance, and masking up.

Buses and Transportation

As well as providing safe schools, FCPS is providing safe transportation for our students.  All students and staff are required to wear masks on all buses. The CDC federal order requiring masks be worn on public transportation remains in effect and applies to buses operated by Virginia public schools.

Remember to fill out the Bus Survey by clicking on the link below.  Your completion of this survey is critical to determine Fairhill's bus routes and make the routes as efficient as possible.

 https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=c8ha9v-3V0CjiY3smiNw_MWfZY3bIuFDvjlDUsO4UStUMDBUTTJHQjM1NEk5MjAxTE0xWjU5TlhHQi4u

You will need your child’s student ID to complete the survey.  The ID can be obtained from your child (used for student laptop log in); from the student’s report card; via the ParentVUE Mobile App; or you may call the school to obtain it at 703-208-8100. (Please note: please be prepared to answer a security question, if calling the school for your child’s ID).

You can find your students' bus stops and times on your Parentvue page.

News from FCPS

Mask Up!

Masks are an essential tool in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and protecting those unable to be vaccinated. To ensure a safe start to the school year, masks will be required for everyone, regardless of vaccination status, inside FCPS school buildings.

With respect to Fall 2021 Health and Safety practices, FCPS will continue to follow the guidance put forth by clinical researchers and medical providers from the CDC, VDH, and the FCHD to ensure the safest classrooms possible. This includes FCPS’ face covering (mask) requirements. Click here for more information.

Cultural Observances and Religious Holidays

The Fairfax County School Board voted to approve a calendar for the 2021-22 School Year that is designed to recognize, respect, and honor the plurality of religious and cultural observances in Fairfax County. The calendar ensures students will not have to make choices between honoring their cultural or religious beliefs and missing a test or school activity.

On the 15 observance days listed below, [SCHOOL] will not schedule tests or quizzes. Tests and quizzes will be given before any of these days, so students are not expected to study on the observance day.

The calendar recognizes 15 diverse religious and cultural observances including:

  • Eid al-Adha
  • Rosh Hashanah
  • Yom Kippur
  • Día de los Muertos
  • Diwali
  • Bodhi Day
  • Three Kings Day/Epiphany
  • Orthodox Christmas
  • Orthodox Epiphany
  • Lunar New Year
  • Ramadan
  • Good Friday
  • Theravada
  • Orthodox Good Friday/Last Night of Passover
  • Eid al-Fitr

The 2021-22 calendar also separates spring break from any religious or cultural observances.
