A Message from the Principal
Dear Ravensworth Families,
The Ravensworth staff and I hope you are enjoying your summer and are beginning to think about the start of the 2021-2022 school year. We have been working hard throughout this summer to prepare for the return of all our students to a full-time school experience. It certainly is exciting to know that the building will be full of children once again, ready to learn, and eager to continue their educational journey. Our goal for this school year is to ensure a safe and welcoming environment that will support the needs of all children. We realize that our Ravens are returning to school with varying experiences following the COVID-19 pandemic and our staff is committed to supporting each student by name and need. In addition to supporting our students, we will also continue to strengthen our community partnership with all families. Your support and partnership throughout the pandemic’s educational experience was critical to our student’s success and we intend to continue our work together. I am proud of the active involvement of our community, which is a key component that makes Ravensworth successful.
Our bell schedule for this school year will return to the pre-COVID schedule of 8:35 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. More information will be forthcoming to families of students who are eligible for transportation in the coming weeks. Additionally, all families will be receiving information about classroom assignments directly from Ravensworth prior to Open House. We are diligently working to place all students as we continue to receive new student registrations daily.
Once again, our Ravensworth Staff is excited to have all our Ravens returning to the nest soon. Enjoy the remainder of your summer and take care.

Planning to Have Your Child Ride the Bus?
Eligible riders needing transportation may review student route assignment by accessing ParentVue any time after August 9th, or by contacting your transportation or school office. Additions and adjustments will be made weekly. All students eligible for transportation services will be provided transportation, even those whose parents did not complete the FCPS Transportation Survey.
During the school year, changes to your intent can be made at any time with Ricardo Bermudez or Sheryl Hall in our front office if the need for transportation changes.
New Student Orientation
Our school counselors, Mr. Austin and Ms. Smith, will host a welcome orientation for new Ravensworth families and students in Grades 1 – 6 prior to Open House on Thursday, August 19, 2021 in the cafeteria at 3:30 pm.

Students are invited to visit the school, meet their classroom teachers, drop off school supplies, and deposit funds in their lunch accounts. Please plan to wear a mask.
The Open House schedule will be:
Kindergarten Only 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
First – Sixth Grade 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Support Ravensworth and Logan
I am Logan Pembleton. I'm working on my Outdoor Classroom Eagle Project with a goal to be completed before the next school year starts. Many of you may have attended Ravensworth Elementary School or have siblings that still go to school there. I would like your help to build a double-sided whiteboard, 10 chairs, painting tree stumps for seating, and refurbishing a bench to give the students and teachers a nice place to hold classes outside.
The Project will be on two days in different locations. Please come to one or both days if you are able. Lunch will be provided.
Saturday, August 7th

We will be cutting materials and preparing the projects
Sunday, August 8th

Rain Date: Wednesday, August 11th, 5:00 – 8:00 pm
Items to bring:
- Clothes that you don't mind getting dirty
- Water (this is a MUST)
- Work Gloves
- Face Mask (not required)
- Work Shoes
- Safety Glasses (we have a few that we can lend but not many)
I know many of you will be at summer camp the week before my project and I hope you will still have time to help. Any amount of help is appreciated. Family and friends are welcome, remember volunteer hours are available for the time you help out.
