 Wednesday, August 4: Bus Survey Due
On July 30, the Office of Transportation Services Families conducted a student ridership survey to plan transportation services next year.
Families requiring bus transportation for the 2021-2022 school year must fill out this survey indicating their need for transportation by Wednesday, August 4 and submit a separate survey for each of their children enrolled in FCPS. Students will not be added to bus routes if the survey is not filled out.
If you are unsure of your student's ID number, you can log into your Parent Vue account or simply call the school office at (703)313-4300. Your student should know their ID number, as well.
During the school year, changes to the intent form can be made by contacting Ms. Blanca Barrios, student registrar, if the need for transportation changes or the survey is not returned by August 4, 2021. It may take up to five days to update transportation schedules.
Monday, August 9: Meet the Bookmobile!
The Forestdale Bookmobile is coming to your neighborhood on Monday, August 9! Forestdale staff will be driving through neighborhoods to pass out free books and popsicles and say hello to our Falcons! See the schedule below for stops and times.
Every Thursday this Summer: Library Curbside Checkout
Curbside checkout is back this summer! You can fill out this form to get books from our library and then pick them up at the front of the school... every Thursday this summer, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Use the library catalog to find the names of the books you want, and then write them in the form. You'll be contacted when the books are ready for pickup. We hope to see you during the last Thursdays of summer (August 5, 12, 19)!
 Thursday, August 19: Forestdale Welcome Walks
Save the date! On the afternoon of Thursday, August 19, between approximately 4:00- 6:00 p.m., Forestdale teachers and staff will be stopping by students' homes to say a quick masked-up hello from outside the doorway. More information about Welcome Walks will be coming soon, and your child's teacher will communicate with you via email during the week of August 16 to share more information. Families may opt out of the visit. We can't wait to personally welcome our Falcons back to school!
Friday, August 20: Forestdale Family Day
We will be returning to our pre-COVID tradition of combining Open House (meet the teacher and visit the classroom) with Back-to-School Night presentations. We will then end with a Family BBQ on the back field. Save the date! The event will take place on Friday, August 20 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. More detailed information and logistics about the afternoon will be shared soon. We look forward to deepening connections with and among families.

Monday, August 23: First Day of School!
The first day of school of the 2021-2022 school year is Monday, August 23. Forestdale's bell schedule is from 8:50 a.m. -3:35 p.m. More detailed information regarding the first day will be sent out soon. Welcome back to school!
