Welcome Walk- Survey window extended to 8/12!
Kings Park staff will be offering a Welcome Walk for all families this year. The Welcome Walk is an informal time for you to meet your child's teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. Your child's teacher and a KPES staff buddy will come to your home for a brief 3-5 minute doorstep visit. This year's welcome walk will be held on Monday, August 16th between 4pm-7pm. To participate you will need to be home during this time frame and wear a mask. If you are not going to be home at this date/time frame OR would prefer to meet the teacher virtually, please indicate that in the survey. Each teacher will contact families that elect to schedule a virtual meeting and/or do not complete the survey by the deadline, to schedule a virtual meet and greet. One way or another, we look forward to "seeing" you soon!
By August 12, 2021 at 3pm, please complete the following survey to indicate your preference To support the management and preplanning necessary for this event, please note that if no survey is submitted for a student, the virtual option will be assumed and scheduled.

Welcome Assistant Principal, Mrs. Maura Donahue!
Mrs. Maura Donahue has joined Kings Park Elementary as our new Assistant Principal. Mrs. Donahue served as the Assistant Principal at Hunt Valley Elementary for the past eight years and previously served one year at Kings Park in 2012. She is a life-long learner with a passion for education, collaboration, professional learning and putting student needs first. She enjoys time outside of school with her husband and two-year old daughter. Mrs. Donahue played softball for the Virginia Tech Hokies and is a huge Nationals fan!
Mrs. Donahue is excited about this coming school year, meeting all of students, families and staff!

We are exited to welcome our Kings Park Lions and families back into the building with our Space Walk Scavenger hunt. Students and families are invited to come explore Kings Park during the dates and time frames below. As a reminder, all students and families who attend will be required to wear a face covering while in the building. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Pediatric Health Fair
Inova Health System in partnership with United Healthcare Community Plan, will be offering a Pediatric Health Fair on August 22nd from 10am to 2pm.
100+ WALK-IN and FREE:
- Well-child checkups (age 5+),
- School physicals (age 5+),
- Vaccinations and COVID-19 vaccination clinic for the whole family (age 12+)
- Fun & activities
- Back to school swag
- Food trucks
- Washington Football Player Meet & Greet

Kings Park Dining Room Assistant
Kings Park is currently looking for a second Dining Room Assistant for the 2021-2022 school year to supervise and support students in the cafeteria during lunch. This would be a part time position from each day. We are looking for an energetic and friendly person who loves working with children. Our dining room assistant supports students five days per week from 10:45am - 1:45pm. If you or someone you know might be interested in the position please contact tlpower@fcps.edu.

Keep in Touch with the PTA. As we move into the new school year, a great way to keep in touch with the PTA is to subscribe to our newsletter and/or join our Facebook group.
Volunteer with the PTA. Keep an eye on the PTA's website for ways to volunteer with the PTA this school year. Including an opportunity this week to help the schools prepare the beginning of the school year folders -- sign up here!
Popsicles on the Playground / Cool Treat Meet and Greet. The Kings Park/Kings Glen PTA is excited to host Back to School meet up opportunities at both Kings Park and Kings Glen on August 22. All grade levels at both schools are welcome to join us for a cool treat (and maybe some special guests). See below for the schedule:
Kings Park Popsicles on the Playground at Kings Park:

Kings Glen Cool Treat Meet and Greet at Kings Glen:
