Emergency Care and Health Information
It is crucial that we have the most updated and accurate information regarding your student’s contact and health information. Please log onto the FCPS weCare@school system and review your student’s information. Make changes as necessary. Click here to access weCare@school. A ParentVUE account is required for this. Please contact Cleo White if you need assistance with your account.
Student Schedules
Your students' class schedule, including teachers, rooms, and class periods, will be available in Student VUE and Parent VUE on August 17, 2021. Paper schedules will also be provided during the Open House events detailed below. If you have questions regarding your student’s course requests, or any concerns you would like to share about your student, please contact the Director of Student Services, Marissa Brooks.
School Supplies
Click here to view a general list of school supplies. Teachers may have specific supply requests once school begins, but students will have plenty of time to get those materials. If you are in need of school supplies, please contact our Parent Liaison, Frances Wilson.
Bus Routes
Bus stops and times will be available electronically approximately one week prior to the first day of school.
Bell Schedule
Our school hours are 7:30am to 2:15pm. We operate on an A-B block schedule. A yearlong A-B calendar and bell schedule, including class times and lunch periods, will be provided in the coming weeks. Don’t worry! We help students understand the bell schedule and they will understand it in no time!
IMPORTANT DATES
Longfellow Building Tours
August 11,12,13 at 10:00am, 11:00am, 12:00pm Students and families are invited to visit Longfellow and tour our building. Tours will begin at the top of the hour and last for 30 minutes. There will also be time for questions and answers. Please keep in mind that student schedules will not be available at this time.
Open Houses
7th grade- Tuesday, August 17 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm 8th grade- Wednesday, August 18 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm This event is for students and families. Students pick up their class schedule, locker assignment, and laptop. They may walk around and locate their classrooms and locker. Medication may be dropped off in the clinic. Please note, the beginning is typically the busiest and most crowded time, so feel free to come at any time during the event. Parking is available in the main lot and around the back of the building on the basketball court. Please do not park in surrounding neighborhoods or businesses, as you may be towed.
Student Orientation for 7th graders and 8th grader new to FCPS
Thursday, August 19 from 9:00am to 11:00am Students walk through their class schedule and meet their teachers. This event is for students only, however, parents are invited to the event below which occurs at the same time. Bus transportation is provided from five elementary schools- Chesterbrook, Franklin Sherman, Haycock, Kent Gardens, and Timber Lane. Parents/Guardians may bring their student to the location most convenient for them. Pick-up and drop-off times are forthcoming but will be approximately 30 minutes prior to the event start time. Parents/Guardians may also drop students off at Longfellow using our Kiss and Ride line at door 4.
Parent/Guardian Orientation for 7th graders and 8th grader new to FCPS
Thursday, August 19 from 9:00am to 11:00am While students are attending their orientation, we have one for parents/guardians, too! This will be an opportunity to learn about Longfellow Middle and to connect with other parents/guardians in the community. Presentation slides will be posted after the event.
Make-up day- Friday, August 20 from 8:00am to 12:00pm
If you are unable to attend the Open House, students may pick up their class schedule, locker, and laptop.
First day of school- Monday, August 23
Students who are unable to attend the events above should report to the Lecture Hall on the first day of school. Counselors will be available to assist students and to distribute schedules, lockers, and laptops.
Administrator Meet and Greet
Wednesday, August 25 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm Parents/Guardians are invited to meet the LMS Admin Team, ask questions, and share feedback about your student’s first few days back at school. We look forward to seeing you there!

After School Program
The After School Program typically begins several weeks into the school year. Late bus days are also forthcoming. A list of after school clubs and meeting days will be updated regularly and posted on the Longfellow After School Webpage.
Longfellow PTA
We highly encourage you to join the Longfellow PTA by visiting their website. Click here and learn more about this incredibly supportive organization. Longfellow offers numerous programs and an abundance of educational resources due to our strong PTA membership.
Family Life Education
These forms only need to be completed if you wish to opt your child out Family Life Education which takes place during students’ Health and PE class. Each form contains links that explain the FLE curriculum. Click here to access the FLE Opt Out Request Forms webpage. Complete your student’s grade level form. Email completed forms to Cleo White.
Military Connected Students
