Dear Bruin Families!
As we move forward to August 23, I wanted to let you know about some staffing changes here at Lake Braddock Secondary School (LBSS).

ana

First, I am happy to share that Dr. Ana Cingel, current Assistant Principal for Administrative Services at Lake Braddock, has accepted a promotion as the Associate Principal at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. Dr. Cingel has served Lake Braddock as a strong instructional leader and a champion of our shared vision and student voice for the past two years. Prior to coming to Lake Braddock, she served as an Assistant Principal and Secondary Science Coordinator in Virginia Beach and has taught Chemistry and Biology in Virginia, North Carolina, and Colorado. She holds a bachelor of science degree in Chemistry with a minor in mathematics, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Doctor of Education from The George Washington University. In 2017, Dr. Cingel was one of forty-six international educators recognized as an Emerging Leader by VASCD, the premier education organization for professionals. She also serves on several ASCD and VASCD committees. Dr. Cingel believes in empowering students and teachers to use education as a lever to transform lives that lead to lifelong learning. She is passionate about ensuring all students have access and opportunity to rigorous instruction and real-world learning experiences. Dr. Cingel resides in Fairfax County and in her spare time enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, reading, and learning new languages.

I am also happy to introduce two new administrators joining our team. Mr. Darryl Johnson will be our new Assistant Principal for Administrative Services. Mr. Johnson has called Virginia his home for nearly 20 years. He came to the area from San Diego County to attend Norfolk State University in 2002. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counseling in 2008, he began his career as a school counselor in Prince William County and continued service in Virginia Beach. While working as a school counselor, he also began studying Education Leadership & Supervision through George Washington University. Following the program completion, Mr. Johnson was afforded the opportunity to serve as an instructional leader and has worked as an Assistant Principal for the last eight years in the Virginia Beach area. Mr. Johnson proudly brings his school counseling and instructional leadership experience to join the team at Lake Braddock Secondary School. As a former coach, he is an avid fan of athletics and competition. Mr. Johnson brings with him to LBSS an adventurous spirit, an attitude of service, and a passion for advocacy.

raine

Mrs. Raine Bradley joins our team as an Assistant Principal for Middle School. Mrs. Bradley has been a member of our Bruin family for the past year, serving as the Middle School SOSA and Assessment Coach. She leads with a passion for equity in education, which will serve as a foundation for her every effort in helping provide a quality education to Lake Braddock’s community. She finds her greatest honor and reward to be seeing children gain confidence as they recognize and utilize their voice as it pertains to their learning. Through her new role as an Assistant Principal at Lake Braddock, she will support staff in ensuring that all students are receiving the best educational experience. Mrs. Bradley desires to continue the great work of the Bruin community, building a legacy of excellence where all students are college and/or career-ready. She and her husband are the proud parents of three daughters, Charity, Gabrielle and Faith.

I hope you will join me in welcoming our new administrators when we return next month. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your summer. Go Bruins!
