Class of 2022 Senior Portraits

Last week additional information about senior portrait opportunities was sent out via eNotify to the Class of 2022.  The next set of portrait dates are July 29-30.  We will offer at least one set of additional dates for students if your child has a conflict with these days.

All information on student parking for the 2021-2022 school year will be released in mid to late July.  At that time we will release the parking permit application and all other relevant details.

Save the Date: Rising Freshmen Information

Jump Start Program:

  • Class of 2025- save the date for our Freshman Jump Start Program, August 10-11. More information about the program and how to register can be found here.

Freshmen/New Student Orientation:

  • Our freshmen orientation will be on August 19, 2021 from 9am-11am.
  • More information coming out mid-late July.

*We will also be planning a kick-off and time for tours for all grade levels so everyone feels prepared and ready for the new school year!

Oakton Athletics & Activities

We encourage all of our students to get involved in something!  Our fall sports season (cheerleading, cross country, dance, field hockey, football, golf and volleyball) begins August 2, 2021.

All incoming freshmen are academically eligible for 2020-2021 fall and winter sports.  Sophomores, juniors, and seniors must have taken and been given a passing letter grade in five subjects the previous semester.  Spring sports eligibility for all grades is based on the February semester grades.  More information on try out requirements and contact information can be found here.

We also have a large number of student clubs available.  If there isn't a club that interests your student, they are welcome to start a new one!  Students with questions about clubs can reach out to the Activities Office after school begins in August.  Please note this list will be updated in the fall of 2021.

With the start of school, we plan to highlight all of the various activities to our entire student body!

Call for Coaches

We are currently looking for head coaches in the following programs: gymnastics and girls soccer.  Interested candidates should reach out to Mr. Pat Full, Director of Student Activities (PLFull@fcps.edu).

Mental Wellness Consultations

The FCPS Office of Intervention and Prevention Services is offering virtual Mental Wellness Consultations from June 28th through August 6th. Parents and students have an opportunity to schedule a 45-minute consultation with a school psychologist or school social worker by phone or videoconference. Consultations are offered in two ways:

  1.       Directly to parents of students in any grade level. This consultation provides an opportunity for parents to receive guidance on how to support their child’s social, emotional, and academic success. Information about community resources will also be provided.
  2.       Directly to students in middle or high school. This consultation provides an opportunity for middle and high school students to receive guidance and support for concerns related to anxiety, mood, behavior, peer or family interactions, or the transition back to school in the fall. Strategies and tools can also be provided to address academic challenges such as organization and time-management.

All parents and secondary students are encouraged to take advantage of this service. There is no cost. Click here to request a consultation. You may also leave a message at 571-423-4276.

Renovation Update

This summer the main project will be renovating our Main Gym and PE locker rooms.  The gym will be expanded so it will be larger in size and will include bleachers on all four sides.   Today we had a large furniture delivery come in to fill the new spaces we moved into in February of this school year.  Phase 3 (newly renovated classrooms) will be turned over during this school year.

Please visit our website for more information on the scope of the renovation and the renderings of what the building will look like when completed.
