Allison Hoak will be joining a new school next year, Dranesville ES, as their new AP. Please reach out to congratulate her on this new position!

Mrs. Hoak:

A Permanent Member of our Flint Hill Family

Dearest Flint Hill Students, Parents, and Staff,

I am writing to share that I have been named the assistant principal at Dranesville Elementary School. While this news comes to you as you are enjoying your summer, I wanted to share it with you as soon as possible. As some of you are aware, I have been at Flint Hill for the past 23 years. During this time, I have had the privilege of being a second grade teacher, a third grade teacher, and as your assistant principal. I have immensely enjoyed each role as a leader at Flint Hill and have had the pleasure of watching our students grow from our littlest learners into adulthood.

I feel extremely lucky to have worked for such a long period of time in the same community with such committed parents. I have learned a lot from all of you, and we have supported one another during difficult times. I want to thank every member of our school community for your dedication and love for our students and school.

AH school spirit

To the Flint Hill staff, thank you for your never-ending commitment to our students. It has been a privilege to work with you all, and I will miss you greatly. To Dr. Hertzberg, I learned so much while working with you and treasure the partnership and guidance you gave me during our four years together.

I look forward to seeing and hearing about the great accomplishments of Flint Hill students. So, I will end with a quote from Winnie the Pooh, “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” I will truly miss you all!

Fondly,

Mrs. Hoak

Ross Baker

Mr. Baker:

The Newest Member of our Flint Hill Family

Please join me in welcoming Ross Baker to our school! He joins us, most recently, from Dranesville Elementary School, where he served as an Assistant Principal from 2015 to present day. For several months, Mr. Baker also served as Acting Principal between July-October 2020, before the current Principal transitioned. Mr. Baker was also an Assistant Principal between 2010-2015 at Hutchison Elementary School. Prior to becoming an administrator, Mr. Baker was a Title I Math Resource Teacher and a fifth grade teacher from 2005-2010, also within Fairfax County Public Schools.

Mr. Baker is a native of South Hadley, Massachusetts. Currently, he resides in the City of Fairfax with his wife, Megan, daughter Claire (7), and son Tristan (4). He is a huge New England sports fan!

In addition to watching sports, he also enjoys playing lacrosse, golfing, and boating. During the pandemic, with the help of YouTube, he restored a 1965 Classic Boston Whaler boat. This boat has provided a lot of fun memories as his family traveled to Lake Ontario this summer.

Mr. Baker is really excited to join the Flint Hill family and looks forward to meeting each of you! Please click here to view a brief video from Mr. Baker. (*You will need to be logged in through Google to view the contents.)
