Clapping out our sixth graders and waving goodbye to all Falcons continues to be a favorite tradition at Forestdale. Have an amazing summer, sweet students! We will see you in August!
Have a Great Summer, Forestdale!
It’s hard to believe that the school year has come to a close. What a tremendous and unique year we have had! It is amazing to think of the growth our Falcons have made physically, emotionally, developmentally, and academically during this unprecedented global pandemic!
Take a minute to think back to the beginning of the school year… There was so much uncertainty and worry about how our students would learn in these new circumstances. Yet, they thrived and learned so many valuable things beyond just reading, writing, math, science and social studies. They learned how to navigate and build relationships with others through a screen. They learned perseverance and problem solving as they embraced virtual learning. They learned empathy while taking care of themselves and others by engaging in safe practices by wearing a mask, social distancing, and regularly washing their hands.
There is no doubt that this year has gone by in a blink of an eye, and were so sad to say goodbye to our students today. We will particularly miss our sixth graders who will be moving on to middle school in the fall. We wish them the best and look forward to hearing about the amazing things they continue to do individually and collectively.
Forestdale is a very special place for many of us for many different reasons. For me, it’s the people- the students, the parents, and the staff. I love seeing the smiling faces of the students each day as they learn and grow, the dedication of the staff members who know each child by name and by need, and the supportive families who do whatever they can to take care of this place. Forestdale is indeed a special and loving place!
We wish you a happy summer and are already looking forward to seeing you in August!
Fondly,
Jenny Cunneen, Principal

All FCPS Laptops to be Returned
Over 350 Forestdale students have checked out a laptop for either virtual or in-person instruction. All laptops and chargers must be returned at the end of the school year for critical maintenance and updates.
-
In-person students returned their laptops and charges this week. If you didn't return your child's laptop, please see below.
-
Virtual students will return their laptop and charger the following week, on Monday, June 14 and Tuesday, June 15. No appointments necessary. Just stop by Forestdale ES any time between 9:00am-12:00pm OR 1:00pm-4:00pm on either day.
If you are moving or leaving before the last day of school, please drop your device off beforehand, by stopping by the Forestdale Main Office to return.
How to Prepare your Laptop for Return
-
Clean your laptop:
- Make sure to completely shut down your laptop first.
- If you have applied any stickers or decals, please peel them off to the best of your ability. Do not use anything sharp like a knife or scraper to remove stickers.
- Wipe the screen, keyboard, trackpad and top cover. It is OK to use a cleaning wipe as long as it is only slightly damp and not soaking wet.
- Leave laptop powered off with the lid open until completely dry.
-
Remove any personal accessories such as USB mouse/keyboard receiver, Bluetooth dongle or webcam cover.
-
Wrap up the cord. If the cord has a built-in Velcro strap, please use that. If it does not, please wrap the cord to the best of your ability.
-
Do not return any laptop sleeves you may have received. These are yours to keep and can be used in the future.
-
Please report any known damage to or operational issues with the laptop and/or power cord (examples: sound doesn’t work, screen flickers, charger doesn’t charge, etc). A note on the laptop is fine. This will help us expedite repairs.
