We are excited to share that students, families, and teachers throughout FCPS and in our school community will use Schoology (pronounced /SKOO-luh-jee/) as our learning management system beginning Summer/Fall 2021.
Here is what you need to know now:
- Starting in July 2021, we will not use Blackboard 24-7 Learning or Blackboard Collaborate Ultra (BBCU)
- Schoology has a connected web conferencing tool, Zoom
- Schoology works with Google Drive
- You need a SIS/ParentVUE account to login to Schoology: http://bit.ly/FCPSSIS
- You can learn more about Schoology: https://www.fcps.edu/schoology
- Parent accounts will be available in mid-August
- Information about how to login to parent accounts will be shared with you closer to the start of the school year
- Students will have a Schoology account by June 18, 2021
- Students will not see any classes until the grading period starts
- Students use their FCPS student ID and password to login to Schoology: https://lms.fcps.edu. Look for the FCPS logo to make sure you are on the correct login page.
Schoology is a learning space that enhances communication, collaboration, and personalized learning for students, teachers, and families. As a parent or guardian, you will be able to use Schoology to view:
- your child's class
- your child’s assignments and participation
- your child’s calendar
- teacher comments, scores, and feedback

The Fairfax County Public Library (FCPL) summer reading program starts on June 11 and runs through August 13. Students are welcome to sign up now on Beanstack and can track their summer reading online.
Opportunities to read and earn prizes include:
- Just for signing up, participants will be eligible to win a $25 e-gift card to Scrawl Books.
- By reading 500 minutes, students will be eligible to win a $50 Chipotle gift card.
- Completing the program by reading 1,000 minutes OR reading 500 minutes and completing 5 activity badges, will offer participants a chance to win a $150 Amazon e-gift card.
Prizes will be awarded after the completion of Summer Reading Adventure and winners will be notified by August 31.

VDOE’s Summer Learning webpage provides resources for all content areas to keep kids learning throughout the summer, including a Summer Math Challenge and a Summer Literacy Challenge with a wide range of literacy fun for the whole family.
Laptop collections will continue on Monday June 14th from 9:00 to 12:00 for virtual 3rd and 4th grade students.

Get free books and other rewards for reading this summer!
3rd & 4th grade students who read 10 books this summer and write it on the form (or on their own paper) can choose a free new book when they return to school in the fall. In person students will receive a form at school. Virtual students may pick one up when returning their laptops. You may also print from the attached files.
5th graders who will be going to Glasgow in the fall are invited to participate in the Glasgow Middle School Library Summer Reading challenge. Click here for more information.
Students are also encouraged to check out the reading rewards and activities at Fairfax County Public Libraries and local businesses. Remember – myON and MackinVIA are available for reading all summer too!
Virtual students please return any library books when returning laptops.
Students who are returning their laptops on Monday, June 14th – please return any library books from last year if you know where they are. Remember that books from any FCPS school can be returned to Bailey’s Upper. Then they will be sent to the correct school. Thank you! We always love getting books back so they can be shared with others!

The Parent Technology Help Desk will continue to support parents and students through the summer months.
Beginning on Monday, June 14th, the phone number for parents will stay the same - 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS) - and the reduced hours for summer are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday in June, July and early August. Outside of those hours, parents can also visit the Parent and Student IT Support Portal to find self-help resources or submit a tech support request ticket.
