Franklin MS Weekly Update - June 11

Franklin Families and Students,

Happy last day of school! We have had an excellent week of celebrating our students and all that we have accomplished this year. As I have reflected on the school year this week, it is amazing to see how far we have come this year…..and how we have done it together as a school community.

We are asking for your help in collecting any FCPSOn Student Laptops and Chargers that have not yet been returned to the school.

  • A curbside laptop and charger collection will take place on June 14th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. All vehicles should enter at the Kiss & Ride parking lot entrance.
  • Laptop drop-off by appointment only is available on June 15-16. Please contact Les Jones at gljones1@fcps.edu to schedule a drop-off.

All FMS families will receive one more Weekly Update in the coming days with some important Save the Dates for the summer and the upcoming school year. After that, we will stay connected over the summer via the school website and special issues of this newsletter.

Best wishes for a safe, relaxing and enjoyable summer. We are grateful for all of your support this year.

We will see you in August!

Your Proud Principal,

Dustin Wright

8th Grade Pinning Ceremony

On June 7 we celebrated our 106 National Junior Honor Society members who earned their service pin. If you were unable to attend the ceremony, a recording has been posted to the NJHS Google Classroom.

Students attending school in-person received their service pins as a part of our Falcon Time awards celebration this week. Students attending school virtually will be able to pick up their service pin as a part of laptop return.

Congratulations again to all of our NJHS members for their hard work and leadership over the past two years at Franklin Middle School. We wish you all continued success as you move on to high school.

Library Updates

Thanks to everyone for using library materials this school year--over 4000 books (including printed books and ebooks through MackinVia and myON) were checked out by students and staff.

Students can continue using ebooks over the summer: rising 7th and 8th graders will be able to log in to Franklin's Destiny Catalog and use Franklin's MackinVia ebooks (Always Available ebooks, Ebooks just for Franklin) and can continue to use myON as well.

Rising 9th graders will be able to use Destiny through their FCPS high school once this school year has ended.

If I don't see you this summer: take care, keep reading, and keep in touch - Mrs. Ruffle.
